Should one happen to stumble across a low mileage Ex Megane Trophy 3.5 litre V6 engine would it be possible to fit it into the back of a Clio V6.......what would be required.......running gear etc.......
Maybe Mike or Tim could chime in with some of their thoughts...
What would the stock engine give Mike? I believe the stock vel satis unit is 245BHP which seems low considering the 255 is just that from a 3 litre.......the eoro megnae trophies give out 330 IIRC?
The V6 is quite a short stroke I believe (under square) - I guess this is why the torque is quite low for a 3 litre but the flip side is that it revs very freely.
I would be happy with 100 bhp per litre n/a but definately not forced induction
Mike, I heard about your TT plans for a 500hp car - I will definately keep an eye on this as you reveal more info.
I was reading an article the other day about compound charging - caterpiller and cummins do a few implementations with their diesal engines. Did you consider this ? Basically it is using a supercharger feeding the turbo it can also be done using 1 small turbo feeding a big one.
Mike's will be 400bhp, 500lbs/ft from 2500rpm to 6500rpm.
Supercharging combined with twin turbos was considered but with 2 small turbos and figures as described, s/charger is not going to add anything.
Tims right, charger just adds inertia to the engine and no additional boost is required to make the above figures.
The secret is Turbo selection and Motec and mapping. Aside from a strong engine with Turbo cams.
I'm only doing it to look younger - I believe it'll tighten the skin in race mode with launch control active.
