[25 Aug, 2017] TurboRenault at Cliosport 2017! (Blyton Park)

I'm getting slightly excited!

Slight change to my plans, I'm not camping on Friday night.

I'll be driving straight to Hull to spend the day/afternoon being a tourist and then back track to Scunthorpe where I've booked a room in the 'Travel Scunthorpe Hotel'.

The Travel Lodge is 20-25mins from Blyton Park meaning I can have a reasonable lie in before heading over to meet you happy bunch for Saturday morning :)

I have the Friday off so I'll be taking a gentle plod up the M11, A14, A1M.
As mentioned the ice cream parlour is bad ass :D
I also can't believe I'm camping o_O

Awesome weekend Ladies and Gents good to catch up with everybody !

No issues with the megane whatsoever. Different animal with the R26 lsd ! I came into bunga bunga way too hot and the car ran off the tarmac onto the loose stuff - kept it pinned a bit sideways as the tail was loose and pulled it out. Did the lsd save the day, skills or luck !? Seen my life flash before my eyes thinking if i bin this im a dead man haha.

Big thanks to Daz for letting me take his 182 out for a few laps, i totally get the clio thing now. Keep the throttle pinned when on three wheels with the tail wagging ! Was awesome mega quick in the twisties for stock car.

@Mart for pax laps in the megane epic fast driving as usual. Had a great time with the touring car style battle at the end of the day meg vs meg. Still gutted that i forgot to press record on the camera ! Marshals had the blue light on to get the MG out of the way first time i have ever seen that on a trackday :D

Great weekend!

Really really well organised event, felt right at home and met a lot of new people. Food was good and the cafe staff were very friendly, totally recommend it to anyone sitting on the fence!

I think my daughter did good, she was patient while I was on track and right at home in the evening! She had the biggest grin on her face when @andybond let her have a blip of the throttle in the Marc, just wow!

She spotted @Sheryl_O and @Brigsy at the Maccys near the travel lodge we were staying in on Friday evening; ‘Dad! Do do you know the people in that super shiney blue Megane?’ and as it turned out, I did ha!

She grabbed some decent photos and a couple of videos (with singing/commentary!), I think she enjoyed herself :ag:

I knew going on track that a couple of niggles may rear there heads - very noisy near side driveshaft and sticky right front caliper. Car went round ok with no issues - until now (will update my thread). I got red flagged on my first lap...I allegedly over took on a bend, took it on the chin and cracked on.

Need to invest in tyres; low tread tears and super soft almost marble like behaviour from the Rainsports didn’t give the greatest confidence.

I’m suffering for the time I spent driving the car, my ankle and heel are pretty swollen (from previous Achilles injury) and I’m dosed up on pain killers.

Thank you @andybond and team for making it an awesome weekend!

Look forward to the next one :af:

I really , really enjoyed my weekend. Great few days, great weather , great people and brilliant atmosphere. Had a few minor issues with the car and front end , but hey nothing throwing money at cannot fix.

Enjoyed the track time , and ventured out with the traction control fully off. Its batshit crazy. Lastest a whole 3 laps with it off before I spun into a 90degree spin. I left the spin zone in a cloud of dust , and a massive set of 11s. Wiggle central.

Getting the manifolds sorted , suspension raised a bit a the front and more toe at the rear. Then a wheel refurb and we are ready for round 2 ! :)

Thanks for the great weekend guys, had a good time even without my 5.
Great to meet you all again and sharing some drinks and laughs. till next year!
After a 5 star treatment at the Thomson Towers me and Ido went back to the Netherlands again.
With some trouble.. 1 broken fuel pump, 1 broken water hose and 4x failing oil hoses. the peugeot finally had its use
as a 200 mile towing car back to Ido.

But we made it in the end
(and some good stories for next year :))
