I think so yes ....why????
Don t now if the raider is ready than , the r11 wil do the job also .
Must renew the heating rad of the raider and put he zenders back on the car etc.
Yes @marcel, booked into the Campanile for Friday & Saturday nights.
I think we should be at the Reims F1 Circuit by about 11-30am
We are then trying to get tickets to the Moet & Chandon cellar tour (€30?) which is a bit further south of Reims.. then we will be into Reims for a look round..
i dont use the toll roads at all .
I use the route national instead .
And Steve youre raider with Zender wheels will not pass the France costums .
They will charge you extra because there r11 turbo wheels and youre raider isnt an R11 i think .
Just returned from another EPIC European Jolly in France whilst attending the Picarde Renault Sport 2016 event Circuit Des Ecuyers. @Millie_Bee and I are sorry that none of you were able to attend with us.. but given @Ricardo has already started a new thread for a potential Euro Jolly in 2017, I thought I would post a few photos to show those of you who've not done this sort of thing before, what to expect, and hopefully make the 2017 event the best one yet!!?
So it all started at 30am when we left our home in Peterborough and drove down to Folkestone to catch the Eurotunnel to Calais. It was a really enjoyable trip and quite exciting listening to the radio at that time of the morning as the results came in from the 2016 European Membership Referendum, we heard it all developing LIVE!! Got to Folkestone ok and managed to catch a slightly earlier train:
Following a totally stress-free crossing, and a quick snooze on the train, we arrived in France and the weather continued to be good as we enjoyed the drive down to Reims.
First stop was to take in the old Reims F1 Track, and take a few pictures of the old pit complex: We then drove into Reims City Centre and parked the car in one of the many underground car-parks so we could find somewhere to have lunch:
After lunch we had a look around the beautiful Cathedral:
And a quick walk around the City Centre to get a feel for the place:
We then took a drive to an Automotive Museum that was in the city to take in some of the old cars there:
There was a great collection of old cars there including some rather tasty Renault's! @Adey I'm sure would be interested to pour over the pictures of the Dauphine identical to his:
And even tucked in one corner was this tribute to the 90's!! :dn:
Couldn't resist a photo of the Raider next to some of the old signs outside the museum:
We then took a drive down to Epernay to take a tour that we booked at the Moet & Chandon Champagne house. As many of you who know my beautiful wife @Millie_Bee is rather partial to the old bubbles, so we couldn't go to the Champagne region without visiting one of the biggest producers. The tour was VERY interesting and you just can't believe the size of the cellars that run beneath the town...
See the chalkboard in front of the bottles of Champagne below. Their are 75642 bottles in that store?! :cf:
And true to form, I got hit up with a couple of bottles to take home... :ca:
After the trip to Moet & Chandon, we went back to Reims & checked into the hotel. The Campanile was great, right in the centre of the city, and with a secure underground car park the car was safe also. That night we went out for dinner, and found one of the busy streets and again was lucky enough to eat outside:
Saturday soon arrived, and unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as the day before when we arrived at the Circuit des Ecuyers with a bit of rain coming down :
The circuit looked fantastic! About the same sort of size as Blyton Park/Mallory, but with a lot more level changes and corners. I found a Video from one of the guys who drove the circuit at the weekend so you can see for yourselves:
The morning session was a bit tentative because of the rain, but the guys still got stuck in with an interesting & diverse selection of cars:
By the time the afternoon session was upon us, the weather had cleared up nicely, and dried the track up a treat! With the improvement in weather, a lot more people turned up and by the end of the day the circuit was very busy!!
Was pleased to see a Megane Trophy-R there getting used as is intended!!
Chuckled when I saw this..
There were some really interesting cars there.. first was a Megane Mk1 Coupe with a F4RT Engine in running Megasquirt ECU that was nearly destroying EVERYTHING else on the track..
And then the funniest car of the day for me was a rather inconspicuous looking Peugeot 307 with a Clio V6 enging stuffed into it's mouth:
During the afternoon one of the Administrator's from the Club Super 5 GT Turbo came down to see us with her family whilst we were nearby and invited us to go round later for a drink!! How's that for hospitality?! So with the invitation for a drink we left the event about 160 and took a nice drive taking in a few sights during the journey:
When we arrived at Anne-Marie's village, she took us to their garage and showed us their 5GTT Collection... :af::af::af::af:
And they showed me their most prized jewel, a GENUINE MATTER Strut Brace:
They then invited us back to their house and we had a drink on the patio. We were truly blown away by their hospitality, thank you Anne Marie, Michael & Diego! Needless to say we had a nice discussion about the potential for a Sangliers 2017..... but more on that another day...
After a winning drink, we then went back to Reims and had a fantastic Galette Dinner, before watching the fantastic Reims Cathedral Light Show:
Sadly the weekend came to an end this morning, and we had a smooth drive back to Calais to catch the Eurotunnel back home before arriving home at 140:
