2022 Race Season

Thanks guys 👍

I’ll get the 1st start uploaded, but I didn’t realise how much wheelspin we had in 2nd gear as well.

I’ve certainly got to learn less throttle but when you hear and see the cars passing, easy to get excited and bury the throttle making things worse.

My start in the 2nd race was loads better, concentrating on throttle control to limit the wheelspin.
Can you boost by gear Clarkey? That would help?

Good to see tappets on the list. Surprising how much power can be lost through tappets. Had a fresh 1380 on the rollers, after a few runs trying to get more, checked and adjusted the tappets and found another 10bhp.
Tappetts were a must after I went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4 th.
Ouch.. …..

These little engines really amaze me.
Three of the Clio guys I race with have buzzed there engines and all needed rebuilds.

Our first outright win and first DNF of the year.
Qualified 3rd and not very happy with time but car had a slight misfire and wasn’t as crisp as it normally is. 2 seconds off my best time at Snetterton, so disappointed.
2.15.7

We got to work on the misfire by checking plugs and a couple of gaps were slightly smaller than the 0.5mm we run at. Clean an oily plug and good to go.
Race 1
We got a reasonable start and didn’t lose to much ground on the front Clio’s, we quickly got past them to lead the race, we was gone as they played amongst themselves winning by 9 seconds. Car Was superb with a 2.13.6 and certainly more in it.

Race 2
Reasonable start but no match for the 3rd placed Clio who shot away, caught him after a couple of corners and passed him going into Agustin.
was just poodling with a big gap, then with 2 laps to go going onto the Bentley straight and lapping a back marker , the car just cut out.
I didn’t have a clue what had happened but was totally gutted to have the double win taken away.
Back in the paddock to take a look and no water, so feared head gasket, even though no white smoke.

Got the car in garage and found the culprit valve head embedded in number 2 piston.
still a cracking weekend with family and my brilliant sponsor Oriental Dine at Home there to share the experience.

Not sure if we make Oulton Park at the end of June but certainly going to try as never raced there..

Highs and lows yet again on race day.
The highs are the car was superb and didn’t miss a beat on a a very hot day.
Qualified on pole, with a 3rd and 8th overall.

The lows….. not sure where to start as never experienced such a personal vendetta to stop me racing and block, just to slow us down when we are 1.5 seconds quicker.
I’m all for race craft, I enjoy it but this was way beyond that.

I was in the clerks office after both races to explain the goings on.
I’ll get the videos up as soon as my laptop decides to work.

There is some excellent clean racing, once I got past the offending car in race one batting for the lead.

Great news about you and the car.
There's always one isn't there, take a deep cleansing breath, count to 10 and out drive him.
Try to keep your concentration, easier to say than do, I know. Never really had that problem thankfully, though we did have one idiot who managed to be in an incident every race one season.
I feel personally that driving standards should be rigorously applied in club racing, as most of us don't have money falling out of our arses and it would improve the racing.
Hopefully it was the heat that affected him and there are no repeats..
Good Luck
