2004 Ph2 V6 - Acid Yellow

38k miles. £38k. Not a surprise it got snapped up at sub £40k. Will probably appear at a dealer for £50k.
As the seller is a member I'm surprised he didn't post it on here. I wonder if he asked anyone for a valuation as he only had it a year?

Advert as follows

For Sale – 2004 Renault Clio V6 Sport (Phase 2)
The time has come to part ways with this exceptional car. Only 354 Clio Phase 2’s where registered in the UK and only 8 where in Acid Yellow. Some years have passed and only 6 remain in this Acid Yellow colour.
This Clio V6 is in exceptional condition and has been dry stored for the last 9 years. Having only covered 38,000 miles is like new. Before it was put into storage it underwent an extensive overhaul. This included a full service, clutch replacement, timing belt / water pump replacement and much, much more. All parts used where genuine Renault OE parts and receipts to prove.
In 100% original condition and ready to be driven. Although it has done very little miles, The Clio V6 has just had another timing belt change due to age and ready for the sale.
The 3.0 litre V6 engines in the Phase 2 Clio V6’s produce 255bhp which is 25bhp more than the Phase 1. In preparation for the release of the Phase 2, the classic Renault V6 engine was sent to Porsche for “tweaking” where they gave it a much needed revamp. Different manifolds and slight changes to the cylinder heads make this mid-engined Clio very responsive.
Registered on 01/12/2004 and spent the last 9 years under cover, it’s not seen much road use so corrosion isn’t a problem, stone chips aren’t a problem because there aren’t any of either. Being sold with all the original documentation, original service packs and 2 keys. It will also come with a 12 month MOT.
It’s very difficult to get across the incredible condition that this Clio V6 is in and to drive it just puts a smile on your face.
Renault sport have a long history in F1, Lemans and making incredible rockets for the road.
You will not find another chance to own a Clio V6 in this original condition like it’s just left the factory!!
The registration is Not included in the sale but in negotiable.
Price - £37995 (sensible offers around or in region of)

I assumed this was the AY owned by the Renault concession proprietor in Halifax? The seller’s address was Halifax.

Have I gone mad, or am I alone in thinking that 38k is a heck of a lot of money for the mileage in the current market

If that was a non ID colour, it would be 10k less. Is the colour really worth 10k?

Don't get me wrong, acid is my favourite colour!

I remember when this car wouldn't sell (for years!) at 15k

For once you might be going a little mad ;) Some cars have been sticking at Dealers in the current market but the right cars in great condition are still selling. remember [v6plaque]280[/v6plaque] black gold that sold at auction last month had over 30k miles on it and sold for over £34000 so the premium for the acid is perhaps £5k as they listed it as being mint with no stone chips etc so could have got at least £40k imo, probably £45k as it is one of 6 cars left and has been in storage for 9 years.
If this really did sell within 2 hours of the listing going up then it shows that an ID colour car really is becoming Collector territory therefore you have to take comparisons with a regular colour with caution.

With regards to the Market, it was Monterey car week last week with the highest profile auctions of the year and one commentator said it was a "bloodbath" with sales way down on last year. The total sales value of the 6 biggest sales was down 34% or $100m.
However, the cars that DID sell were the rarest ones with things like alloy bodies or rare specs so as always whether it is cars or houses or whatever, those looking to buy can now cherry pic the best and rarest and will still pay for those.

I was thinking the same Duncan.

It was a daily hack for the first half of its life, 38k miles - mothballed for the second half of its life - Isn’t that ‘barn-find’ territory? (Maybe that’s a bit unkind, but the ‘low mileage’ moniker doesn’t sit easy with me)

I also remember that it was needing cosmetic bumper repairs at the time it struggled to sell...

One question Duncan - when was the crossover for ID colour coded to ID titanium pods? I’m guessing Oct 2004 (which presumably was when ID interior was no longer an option too)...

Yes. I had ordered the bronze with bronze pods. They changed to all silver about March 2004 and told me I wasn’t getting bronze pods.

I told them I was. ;)

James bronze car was the last car out the factory with colour coded pods....by months! That was manufactured Nov 2004.

All ID cars built June 2004 and before had colour coded pods, but the odd car was still done with colour coded pods after this date, presumably to suit customer order.

Does anyone know what the low mile Iliad Ph2 sold at Hairpin recently? Just to kind of try and bench mark this Acid

They were asking 40k, not sure what it sold for.

am still learning - what is an ID colour?

Ph2 Paint colours which commanded a hefty premium.

ID interior packs carried hefty premiums too and were only briefly in production models.

ID wheels were mooted and existed in pre-production form only.
