2003 Phase 2 Illiad Blue - Autotrader

Just to add to spanners comment, you are in some way inferring that for me its all about the profit, which if you knew me and the some 110 owners of clios ive sold would tell you it couldnt be further from the truth.

Maybe My criticisms should be aimed at the dealer for wanting 4k out of a non prepped car, but wait im all all about the profit right?

Maybe i should be thanking the dealer for the price tag so i can make more money on another vee as im all about the profit right?

The fact of the matter is its a trade in being presented at full retail. The dealer has whacked 3 possibly 4 k margin in it and not addressed the things wrong.
thats not long term business strategy with cars its short term greed with zero customer service.

I wonder why renault are in the sh*t, poor service and poor selling awareness.
So actually you wont ever catch me selling something as bad as that, it would be fully prepped or trade saled out.

Believe what you want, however it doesnt matter to me.

Took one look at the photos and was pretty shocked TBH. I know demand is high for Vees at the moment but it looks very poorly presented, especially as the asking price is high (if you look at historical prices of Illiad Blue Phase 2's). Personally, and for this kind of money, I'd be expecting a well presented vehicle that's been subject to a bit of TLC.

As said, demand is high at present but this strikes me as being a bit sloppy.

Aside from the stone chips on the front end which are glaringly obvious what else can can you guys see from the photos that are so shocking?
Just intrested. :approve:

It just looks like no effort has go into preparing it for a sale. Some people won't be bothered by this but it would bug me.

They could've at least blown (from a safe distance) at the dashboard, I think there's there's an ex owner's short and curly there ;)

Quite what the picture of that service book was supposed to achieve...

I can vouch for Steve (Acid), he knows what excellent customer service is and how well to prep and sell a car, I got my Vee from him, fully prepped, niggles ironed out by Scott at SG and delivered to Leeds from London for a hell of a lot less than this is being advertised.

What they will have done is look at current prices and having a go. Any owner from here will go with the concerns, they'll be hoping someone just falls for it.

Oh well, here we go again..............I had hoped that these arguments were a thing of the past.

Any how, seems like prices of Vees are on the up, so guess people need to face reality....................

Having said that the Vee really needs to move into the hands of enthusiasts, specialist dealers and classic auction houses if prices are to continue its upward trend. Renault (main) dealers do not seem to cut the mustard when it comes to it, quite the contrast from dealers who sell other marques that I own. A real shame that.

Thanks fella, yours had a good ol prep plus a very good cambelt specialist.

Maybe renault will try the reducd to clear trick at 13995 and entice someone in.

Its pretty petty not to tax a car, is the screen price with tax lol or will you have to barter for it.

I bet that gets traded out. Maybe we could have a whip.

Lets see if it sells.

Didn't mean to defend Renault dealers, but was making an observation based on current trends and my experience of owning the marque now for around 19 months.

I certainly hope the Vee gets its due share of glory in time to come....................and soon may that be. [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Prices are on the up. Simple really. So a mint example or if that one is sorted out is worth 17k. Although having had its cambelt done in 2009 then the price should be 16K. Yep the inevitable upward trend is occuring without any of us doing a thing. Maybe the finger on the pulse is not quite happening or not quite accepting prices are changing due to market demands.
I still dont understand why the vee here is so much more less than the European prices. An equalisation in prices is surely what we would expect over time??
Ph1's with 30000 miles are going for 21k. Ph2s seem to be going for 29k.

Maybe it is because we are doing nothing ie not selling our vees that prices are rising. Looks like thats all we had to do to get prices up! Simple yet so effective! We are geniuses through our inactivity and indecisiveness on how to raise prices! We all are legends!
Personally despite my post prices are irrelevant to me as I will never sell mine but just thought I will add my two-pence worth (or is it three-pence worth  ) from a distance as I am bored at work!

Lighten the mood a little as this fixation with prices is sooooooooooo serious its kinda scary!! Not far off an official declaration of war!!
No offence intended to anyone (without a sense of humour ;) )

However its not, its poor.- Its got poor service history, probably no cambelt change, paint req & probably other work needing thats not visible in the pics-

sorry its a shed, it needs PROBABLY over 2ks worth of work, poss more.

Lot of probably in there maybe we should get all the facts before calling it a shed ?

I think Acid you also mentioned service history by 'bodgit & scarper' ? A full Renault service history is preferable then, so really you would also recommend that used Renaults were purchased from a renault dealer and not an independant.

Dont confuse great service history with great service [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

Dealers like this actually irritate me- Everyone works on a margin but probably PXed for 11k & listed for 15k as is - not even serviced-

And the rest. Glasses guide last time i looked was showing trade in price for a 53 plate Clio V6 as being about £8000 in absolute top mint condition. In my experience, dealers will not pay any more than what the glasses guide tells them, even on rare models no matter how much you haggle.

Also, a lot of dealers will be hoping for a quick sale and stick the car on their forecourt "as is" for top money, hoping someone will walk in and buy it as it is. If not, they may reduce the price as part of the negotiation for bits like road tax & paint work. If they dont sell it, they will just farm it off to another garage and let them have a go. They dont see the point in having the car off the forecourt for days having servicing, paintwork etc.. done as its costing them money not only in mechanics / bodyshop wages, but in banks interest as a lot of garages buy cars via finance, so they dont physically own the cars on their forecourt.

Like you, when i come to sell a car, i personally make sure its top notch and in perfect condition so the buyer can not find a single fault. But not everyone is like us!
