2 CAR POLICIES

I know this has been done before, but after getting quotes for £1500 with no no claims on a Vee i tried Admiral multi car, better, but still high for my Meg r26 and a Phase 1 Vee, using max no claims on the Vee the combined price was £950, for me a 41 yr old. Not bad i know but the meg by itself is only circa £300! Going to try footman and james tomorrow as i have a mk1 r5 with them for £150 yr. :s

Cant you use a specialist for the vee on a limited mileage policy, Im sure there are a few people who do this and there is noo requirement for ncb?

Try A - plan in solihull (01217111711) ...it might depend on your points ect.... but i got mine fully comp with no no claims bonus for just over £650 ....+ i get £20 cashback if i recomend some one!

Thanks tried today, mutli car policy was £1100, a bit more than Admiral, but their single car policy with no no claims was £657, cheapest so far, but still a bit more than i wanted to pay for a second car, will keep looking. Mentioned your name by the way.

Still searching, latest prices are improving with 4000 limited miles and no no claims

A-Plan as above now £595.00, but £700 excess incudes 2yr ncb introductory offer, with wife on as well.

Also Adrian Flux just quoted, £579 with only £500 excess :)

Any more recommendations?

Just taken the policy today with Adrian Flux £550, with 500 excess , 4000mls and no no claims. Mentioned the club but wasn't aware of the formal discount at the time, although i've been back and forth with them a few times to get a competitive premium. Now to pick the Vee up.............

Been ringing around today for Insurance too ...

I tried Flux first and they actually came in best at £476 - I initially thought this was expensive given my current insurer Hagertys were £357 inc breakdown, agreed value and track-day option ... Hagertys will no longer renew/insure the Vee hence me having to change this month ...

NOTE: I found Flux a bit vague about the club discounts and the advantage of the PFC discount. They didn't convince me these were anything than perhaps a discretionary discount and marketing exercise as I couldn't get a straigh answer as to what the base cover price was or the value of the discount. They just said, after I really pressed them, that I had been given a 10% discount which covered the PFC/club discount benefits ... Not convinced on this ... But they were still cheapest so no issue I suppose ...

Others then ...

Performance direct were £611.
Swinton came in at £740 but immediately came down to £600 when I mentioned the flux quote.
I also tried admiral but they wouldn't do multi-car due to my highly modified 2nd car but Admirals Vee only price was £650.

There were slight variances of excess and mileage but all these quotes were based on my age of 43, locked garage, 4k miles, second car, full protected no claims and modifications declared (seats, splitter and filter). BTW modifications restricted the options according to all of the insurance companies I tried.

Finally I tried Sky (who I use for the Toyota and previously used for the Vee) ... They came in at £500 which is their minimum premium for the Clio and so I negotiated free legal cover and unlimited mileage - the combined excess was £250. I think, on balance, I will go for this and accept the increase from Hagertys - all the insurance companies said Hagertys was a brilliant deal, as I thought it was so a shame they still can't offer it :(

I may try A-Plan tomorrow to complete the picture ...

In summary Flux came in best for basic cover, but Sky (who I have used for many years) are competative with unlimited mileage and I know them ... A more expensive Vee year for me it would seem ...

Oh and one final bit of information, if you use classic insurance where your no claims is 'parked', you can only get the no-claims back within 2 years - after which is expires. This is also the case if you are not insured for a period of 2 years i.e. you have a company car, you lose your no-claims after 2 years of non use. Several companies told me this so fortunately I won't lose mine as I was only on Classic cover for 1 year.
