1997 R Reg megane coupe 2.0 16v F7R

As above in bright yellow. (My car)

It's in near perfect condition for the age, just ask anyone who has seen it in person at the FCS.

60,600 ish miles, (will be 60k by the time someone buys it i'm sure)
FSH up to 52K when i bought it, but then I have serviced it myself.

Has had the following since I’ve owned it:

Gearbox oil changed for fully synthetic stuff.
oil filter and oil changed when bought and 3k ago with Castrol fully synthetic oil.

K-TEC twin exit stainless steel exhaust (cat back)
Ram air induction kit and breather filter.

Engine degreased to make it look nice for the FCS. lol

N/S rear quarter and rear bumper stripped and resprayed as the paintwork didn't feel rite.

Both rear arches stripped, rust treated and sprayed with rubberised paint. (done at the same time as the bumper and r/quarter) all paint work still under warrenty.

Both front doors & boot dynamited.

The car truly is the finest example of a phase 1 Megane coupe you will see. I've been in many and they are all poor in one respect or another or they are on 90K + miles.

GOOD BITS
V5 of course!
Yellow (best colour for one of these)
Cat 1 factory alarm and immobiliser
2 Keys, both in full working order.
Loads of history, well looked after example.
Recorded Cambelt history @ 36K (IIRC)
16” Renault alloys, all in VGC! Most have no scuffs and the one or two that do are very minor!
Faultless mechanical operation!
The plastic filler bottle for the coolant is CLEAR and the coolant is BLUE. For a Renault of this age that’s simply a miracle and a testament to the care that has been taken on this car.
Will Tax for you if required at your expense.
12 Months MOT for the sale!

BAD BITS

Tbh I don't know why I bother saying these as I'm fixing most of them before the car goes but here you go.

Slight exhaust leak around the joints of the Stainless steel system. It annoys me because I know it’s there but it passes MOTs like it so it’s not really classed as an issue.

Power steering pump works fine but the pulley snapped a bolt casting, thus needs a new one. (I've just bought one for £20 which will be going on the car as soon as it turns up.) Problem solved. (still need to fit but will before any sale)

Rust.

one spot on the car at the top of the screen, it's only small and when polished you don’t notice it. I've been quoted £80 to have it fixed. (You pay the extra money and I’ll have it done for you.)

Body

There is a tiny scratch on the o/s rear quarter near the roof, it's tiny but needs to be mentioned. I never noticed it for months so that should say something about it.

Front bumper has 2 slight dints in it above the number plate as next door like to hit it from time to time when they open their door. This has also cracked the number plate but I'll replace that for the MOT. The bumper simply had to be mentioned but it isn’t bad at all.

Interior

The interior is spotless but there is a little wear on the drivers bolster. It’s not that bad at all but you would notice it if you looked for it.

The rear windows are slow to operate. This is due to the circle resistors in the motors. I’ll take them out before the sale to fix the issue.

SUMMARY

It’s an honest car and you’ll never find one in this condition without any skeletons in the closet.

I’m asking the top book value but as they say “you get what you pay for”
You could buy a £1200 Megane F7R and spend 2K getting it to a poorer standard than mine. You’d still have most of the common issues to fix and would end up paying over 3K to get a half decent car with high mileage. Mine has Very Low mileage, comprehensive service history and has been maintained by an enthusiast! Not some Muppet with a Halfrads manual!

I’m willing to consider a swap or Part Ex – (Money my way) for a ZX7R, Fire blade or similar super sport motorbike equivalent.

Pics will be added if interest is shown or they are requested but most people have seen this car so you know what I’m going on about.

Please feel free to comment but don’t spam the post please.

I'd have said £3000 but it's hard to justify unless you're selling to a enthusiast who will appreceate the effort. For £3000, you can buy a much newer one (albeit not as good and with and IDE lump) but I'd cover my costs if i got 2.5 for it.
