1978 Renault 12 Frog Dog. Definitely slow, slightly low.

So the day had come, today was delivery day insane.webp i had alot going on to be honest so sleep on Sunday night was crap. I was starting a new job today so there was no real chance of taking the day out to play and tinker and receiving a new toy! Anxious and excited all rolled into one. This morning i passed on my mrs contact details to the delivery driver as i wouldn't be there and left her with strict instructions of what to do and where it had to go. She was golden and sent me a message when it was all sorted, i didnt even know it was there!!! Super excited to get home once that text came through lol. Turns out she had to help as the car seems to have a brake seized on, the delivery guy was apparently having an asthma attack in the road.....

Anyway, I'm home, shes here and we are ready to rock. Nothing major to report yet as i haven't had long to tinker. Ive tried firing her over but she coughs and splutters, I'm assuming the fuel in it is probably nearly 4 years old but it does seem to be getting to the carb. So first job will be to clean the plugs and give the ignition side a quick once over followed but some fresh fuel in the tank and into the float chamber. If i can get here to run this weekend ill be happy. After that i guess ill start on a brake refurb alongside the welding. Obviously the list of things is massive in reality but the target of RRG18 has been set cool.webp

Dude! You always find the damn coolest Q cars, top effort. Can't wait to see how slammed this car will be.... Subbed

Hopefully quite lol. Should take too much to get this one back on the road (he says) just a lot of time. But it should be a proper different cool car.

it made noise when i turned it on so im assuming it works, bit before my time though, any one explain it lol 2 x LW and 3 x Medium wave channels? seems to have saved presets when i press each button?

You tune the station, then pull the preset knob out I believe to set the preset...
OMG, I’m officially an old bastard now... 😩

I have been gagging to get to work on the car this week, as anyone with a new toy is, but haven't found the time with work and family life. Ive managed to grab a few minutes in the eves before the kids go to bed to try getting it to start up. She didnt want to play ball initially, i thought it was down to the old fuel so i rigged up a jerry can to the fuel pump. She was better with the fresh stuff but wouldn't rev and coughed and spluttered alot, even firing flames back out of the carb!

I put a post up to the knowledgeable Renault folk at RenaultCCC who advised a carb clean and ignition setup. I partially stripped the carb to give it a blast through with cleaner and WD40 and i reset the points on the dizzy along with a spare set of good HT leads and a clean up of the spark plugs. Now she runs sweet and smooth, just requiring an oil and filter change now.

I also started a little work on the washers and wipers, the wipers were off the car but the mech seemed to be working fine so they were just refitted. The washer pump was making noise but not doing anything. It looks as if the oem in tank washer pump had failed and been bypassed previously. The pick up pipe has snapped off though, no biggy, a quick addition of some spare silicone pipe saw it working fine again though :ag: This weekend id like to get the lights all working and the brakes sorted. Fingers crossed
