19 Digi Dash Info Thread

It must be out of fuel and its still going now

Whats the opening size in the dash for the module? The lcd is ~50mm but whats the smallest screen we'd get away with?

46 x 18 is the hole size on the black bit which is the front if you get me

the white back is 54 x 24

I have one of those, a bit big to squeeze in and they're only character lcd's with a limited character set. I think they're the same size as the XRD? Or are they 20x4?

same as the xrd 16 x 2 except XRD is green.

It would fit with some messing. A built in XRD with fuel level etc would be handy though.

The worst bit about the XRD is plugging it in and it taking up all the room under the heater controls.

It would be high enough anyway would it?

I think its time to pull that xrd apart and send me some pics!

you would see the black band at the edge of the small screen but there wouldn't be a gap.

Will do on the XRD and you wanting pics of the dash display casing as well?

I have a dash, i just could be arsed going out in the cold last night

Not going to be able to do anything XRDish but i'm curious about whats in it, iirc its fuck all. I'd love to get my hands on info about renaults diagnostic protocol

there is feck all inside it. I had it open when I first got it.

TBH with todays tech you could make it much smaller, they did before they stopped making them

Yeah, they used a 20x4 lcd and the board wasn't much bigger than that.
Might have to get that one off you during the summer for a bit.

Anyway, I now have the "new" display showing the current speed. I need to try to the relationship between fuel flow and speed to calculate the rest. It's awkward because there's no instantaneous outputs, only averages

well after changing in the new fuel pump, well second replacement new fuel pump one handed I discovered something interesting.

right click save as

Yep, with very little fuel in the tank (5l can, just enough to start the car), the range is flashing as is the fuel level.

this has never happened before. This is what the newer cars do though. So maybe this is what the low fuel pin is meant to do.

And no it didn't need reset which is why I scrolled through the other stuff which isn't flashing. everything flashes when it needs reset.

Also the vid shows 12.5 mpg later after it was idling it was showing 6.2 mpg, so it does go under 7mpg.
