Say hello to BOB!

That looks awesome.
They be some R6 stuff in Turbell stock, not much call for it.
Is it 845cc ? Be a fookin blast to drive!

indeed its a 845cc (y)

Well, you’ll be pleased to know you’ve got the performance version of that lump, it’s a beast…

I’m not sure if performance and 845cc go hand in hand?

not even sure what I have with the car tbh, I have 2 gearbox’s, they aren’t the same

I think first job will be to look at everything there, then try and pick the best bits

Tune it up. Fit an 1100… 50BHP!! then fit industrial castors to the roof rack for when you’re pushing on and get carried away…

What on earth is that thing :joy:

Somehow I’m thinking you won’t approve..
Is it going to be project Kermit Le Frog or Project Fugly…

Looks like he’s about ready for an F4RT conversion.

I challenge you to spend nothing on it, nowt .

Running and driving for fuck all, I’ll even give you owt I’ve got .

Yellow and Green should never be seen, unless it’s on an Irish Queen…
Maybe it’s Red and Green..

Hello Bob , 845 engine always seemed better than the 1108 when dad used to borrow grandads lol also had a 845 Renault 4 that we tried to blow up but jut kept taking the abuse .

As soon as i seen this on as i knew it was right up your street. Much rust?

would be a proper project them wouldnt it! ill give it a go. Need a fair few hours spare to go through whats there.

i do believe its a hefty conversion, well parts wise. Requiring, engine, box, brackets, selectors, driveshafts hubs and uprights along with a change to discs up front? plus more im sure

Is this your car Adey? Or for someone else?

I quite like the 8, so have been hoping you’d pick something up I can dislike :joy:

This is my car now, I don’t tend to spanner for others if I can help it.

You can dislike it more now (y)

Hi Adey, well I never expected that car to be on your drive, so regarding engines and gearboxes as upgrades, there are various restorers on the web who fit 90 odd bhp Ren R5Gordini 1397cc atmo units, there are also 5 speed boxes from GTL units etc. which fit as well.
You could in theory fit your R8 1397cc Engine back to front into the R6 engine bay, options are good. The engine ancillaries need to be handed to the clutch end. The inline R5GTL 1289cc unit is quite peppy if you can find one!
The Ventoux 845cc can be “Gordinised”, 904cc pistons are readily available sporty cams [Salv] bigger valves, around 60 bhp is achievable, dont forget these standard little units rotate the opposite way to rear engine installed 845cc versions.
If you are going for a front Bench seat, I would be happy to buy your black front seats.
Cheers
Dave

Or you could be like the french Renault 4 on youtube that has a energy engine and goes like stink , the options are endless

Cheers for all the info, plenty of options out there but I’m not sure what the long term plans are for it yet.

Short term is to get it up and running using as many of the parts and as little funds as possible.

So this evening I’ve managed to salvage 4 pistons and rods, cleaned them up and fitted a set or slightly rusty rings. I’m not going nuts, tbh as long as it runs like the old agricultural engines they are, ill be happy (remember my old r8 engine… thing was doing 100s of miles with chunks missing out of 2 pistons  ) the rings cleaned up fine with a scotch pad. One of the oil scraper rings was damaged, so if anyone has a spare I would really appreciate it.

One of the blocks has the liners still in, looks ok so I may give it a quick DIY deglaze, cam rotates fine in there, just looks a little crusty on the outside.

I have 2 gearbox’s here. The “Type 334-12” one is the early dog leg 1st, the other doesn’t look like it would fit without changing the driveshafts and mounts, its a chunk wider. So I need to figure a way of checking that the original works whilst not fitted to the car?
