EFI - GT Turbo

4-wire, +ve, Grnd, Ign1 and Ign2, i’m using the same coil and it’s not grounded through the case either. Not intentionally anyway.

Mark, the wind just changed direction so you need to take it apart again mate

Regarding the coil pack. Scoff looked at mine and said its earthed fine and wouldn’t cause any issues.

lol, @DaveL485 - I’d be excellent in the pits for GTT cup car races if they still existed, I can have the thing in bits within a couple of minutes.

Then someone tell me why scoff says this on his own website [emoji848]

I’ve no idea but my bracket goes straight to the block. When i’ve had mapping sessions with him he said it was fine. He even swapped a coil pack for me once when trouble shooting.

Strange, mines sat on posts on a flat bracket like advised.

I didnt see that. I guess I better check it’s earthed then! I assumed (why wouldn’t you) that the earth wire on the harness was…well…the earth wire!

doesn’t it earth through the 3 bolts that go through it?

Yes, probably, I just never checked that plate and the plate that it fits to was earthed to the body.

It’s the under of the coil which is important because that’s the coil winding earths I’m sure

Either way worth checking

Does anyone know what the original version of Scoff’s trigger wheel sensors are? i.e which marquee its off ? I am guessing like his ign modules they are chinese copies of a sensor off another car? I’d like to find an OE version if possible.

Thoughts ?

Never mind I tracked them down.

And the answer is?

Cossie sensors I think?

Yeah off old school fords. Found an OE new one on ebay for £8.

Most sensors are old ford ones.
Crank, air temp, coolant temp
Omex etc use the same

Fastest response air temp sensor is gm made closed element sensor.

What happened?? What did you post on YouTube?

So it’s all fixed, I am now running NKG Racing BR9EG’s. No issues with misfire, pulls hard to the limiter in all gears. Gapped to 0.5mm.

The video I posted up is a funky idle, Like your YouTube comment @JGM I think it’s a vac leak somewhere, I’ll investigate when the car is cool. I was just sending to the mapper for his opinion.

Good then.
Did you have a play with the copper ones as well, what made you choose the racing plugs in the end?

I have the 8 rated cooper plugs as well just in case, the 9s I am running are copper also not iridium this time. Just need to solve idle issue and then it should of sweet.

I’ve only been back in the car scene for 2 years after pretty much 10 years away. I’ve come to one conclusion over the last few weeks and that is that fucking with modified cars is a total and utter ball ache. Trying to remain patient and hold it together after nothing but spending money is proving to be difficult. I’ve been close these last 72hrs to breaking the fucker and sticking everything on eBay.

I thought issues were solved after fitting 9 rated plugs but after 50 or so very fun miles the car is missing again. Oddly I changed straight away to 8 rated plugs that Clarkey runs and the on boost miss still remained. So in my mind that logically rules out plugs being the issue and the intermittent on boost misfire is actually related to something else. Tonight I have changed crank sensor to an OE Ford one rather than the Chinese sensor EFI Parts sell. @DaveL485 @Clarkey - I am wondering if when I removed crank sensor previously that I may have not fitted it exactly back as to where it was, do you think this would cause my misfire issues ? I am not convinced that the bracket actually has enough play for the sensor to be fitted “that” far off though. Thoughts ?

To add to the misfire issue I also have a funky idle when warm, the idle is mapped lean to be fair, around 16 (i’m told to help the plugs when at at idle) but at it’s worse the idle is 1200rpm and AFR’s fluctuating as lean as 18 (off my gauge). I think I have made some progress with this however as I checked every single vac hose and happened to find one that was split.

Rant over !! I wanted to do some timed testing this weekend to see what true effect the new set up has made. Someone pass the lighter fuel and matches. :bb:

Keep your head up mate, in the end it’ll all be worth it!

No, the sensor being slightly out won’t cause any misfires, that is if it’s off timing. If it’s further away from the trigger wheel it could be the cause, that’s no misfire though but missing crank events, could diagnose the same though!
