Your feedback on the forum upgrade

On my iphone in Safari, when I open a new page, it opens with the forum on the left of the screen and a massive blank bit on the right. It's like it's really zoomed out and the text is too small to read.

Screen shot Duncan?

There used to be a way of distinguishing posts you hadn't read in a thread, think it was a bigger gap between posts.
Has this feature been removed or has it been replaced by something else and I'm being stupid?

The arrow is pointing to a topic where some of the posts I haven't yet read. Note the icon has a dark outline.

The wee red icon shows posts in a topic I haven't read.

Space between posts on old and new forum. New forum has a much lighter background so maybe that's why the gap seems smaller?
I think the new space is a fraction bigger?

James and the Forum crew, thanks very much for the update :salut:

Still getting into terms of the new layout but so far I like it!

Regarding the new posts feature - it used to have a box with a date to search which was very usefull, it does however seem to have disappeared ?

I vaguely remember it but never used it myself, Dave wrote it especially for K1ano, so I will ask him if it can be re-written using this new form code.

Think it looks great but I've noticed if you click on a picture to make it bigger I cant close that picture without going back then going back into that thread if you like. I cant seem to see any X or preesing ESC or clicking on the forum screen, none of these things work. I'm on a normal PC

I will show you what I see on my PC and we'll take it from here.

It looks like your browser's tab setting need adjusting.

I click on a pic and the forum is greyed out, click anywhere on the background and the pic goes away and you're back in the topic.
If you keep clicking on the pic it scrolls through every pic that's in the topic. (So going into the gallery is just if you want pic information)

Clicking on the View in our gallery link below the pic takes you into the gallery, with a new Tab open.

Very strange I'm just Internet Explorer but same issue, open up picture up to make it bigger, as you say the forum greys out but then I just cant close it, including that tried above. Sometimes a random white circle appears in the middle of the picture but it doesnt do anything.

Perhpas due to work PC maybe - no idea!

I cant be the only one on a PC be intresting to hear if anyone else has this issue

As mentioned earlier, The TapaTalk App company haven't included the necessary code to suit the new forum software. PHPbb the writers of our software use this gallery extension on their forums. It may be down to PHPbb to change the gallery code or work with the TapaTalk people to include suitable code inside their APP to work with this gallery.
Politics involved.. There are many PHPbb forums, not that many actually use a gallery, so PHPbb would not see the images/TapaTalk issue as a major concern.

We have nearly 3000 forum users, 11 of them use TapaTalk to browse the forum. I want to keep 11 people happy.
I might encourage Dave the geek to do some code hacking (which is against the whole idea of this new forum).

Something like: Each time Tapatalk reads a message from the database, convert our [album] code to code - which also means converting the image number to a URL in the Gallery.

Things I've noticed even though I don't use TapaTalk:

TapaTalk is a profit making company.
TapaTalk code works fine on commercial forums. PHPbb is non profit making.
TapaTalk support people haven't actually answered anyones questions in over 12 months!

Sorted :pod:

Code:
'#\[album.*?](\d+)\[/album.*?]#','[img]http://v6clio.net/forum/gallery/image/$1/medium[/img]'

Not on TapaTalk until we find some way to prevent TapaTalk losing all the pictures uploaded to their servers!

Have only been accessing the forum via my ancient Blackberry, but must this is a HUGE improvement over what was available via the BB 9810.

Much more professional looking too. Will check out the PC browser set up, my main platform, when I get a chance to get on a laptop or desktop.

Oh, and for the first Time I can attach a 'smilie' via the BB, so here's a big one........'
