Who can fit my QS Exhaust?

v6had

New Member
I have managed to get my hands on a second hand QS exhaust now i just need to get it fitted. Can anyone recommend any garages in the south east that would be up to the job? I would have ago myself but when changing the exhaust on my last car i managed to slice my finger open down to the bone on a sharp bit of metal so i think im going to let someone else do this one. LOL

Cheers for any help.

Cheers James, I rang Rentech on monday and they informed me that it was going to take up to 3 hours to fit it and could cost upto £170 plus VAT :( !!! I was thinking K tec because they said that it would only take a hour and would cost about £50 which is more like it. I was just trying to find a place a bit closer than Bournemouth that could fit it!

Took my QS to a local MOT garage that my mate owns. It's a piece of p1ss to fit but you have to "lean" on the collector box connectors to get alignment. That bit is not for the faint-hearted. Fail to align correctly and you get burnt paint from the bumper exit holes. Mine cost a few beers to fit (probably an hours labour in total). :approve:

Kett - thats another reason that i dont really fancy doing it because the one i fitted on my last car never really fit that well and burnt the underside of the bumper. I dont want the same happening to the V6!

Fair play, I understand your concerns.
K-Tec are the main agents for QS these days, so you could do a lot worse... :approve:

Fitted mine on Sunday...hardest bit was getting the rear bumper off! Screws behind the tyre are so fiddly. If you live closer up North mate I would have done it. It took me about 2 hours all in. Pretty easy really just getting it aligned properly to sit centrally was thedifficult part.

I aint no mechanic but Ive had the rear bumper and exhaust off and back on and refitted the bumper in hour and half no ramp. I thought rentech were supposed to be experts, at least Dick Witington wore a mask.

HAHAHAHAH @ £170 plus vat!! Ring them back and mock them down the phone.

I took mine to the local exhaust place, the bumper doesn't need to come off, cost me £25, took about 20 mins.

I thought 170 was a bit steep!

ClioV6_Lancs - hav you got any pics of your fitted? Which one have you got? R u happy with it?

I've done it both ways (in a manner of speaking) twice with bumper on and once with bumper off. Trust me the bumper off method is far easier, better to get the exhaust locaed centrally in the bumper, less risk of scratching the bumper and easier to access all the exhaust mountings. Plus on the Mk1 my mesh was taken out so i could get my hands through.

me and my uncle did mine was a realy easy wen it was up on the ramps took bout 20mins and cost me £20!! didnt have to take the bumper off or anything

Can anyone give me the name of any specialists or garages i could try? I dont really fancy take it to somewhere like kwick fit!

I took mine to 'Hi Q' - local Kwik Fit style place. It doesn;t need a specialist, it's literally just a case of sticking it on.

I have bought the second hand so do i need to get hold of extra hanger rubbers or clamps as the bloke i bought it off didnt give me any?

I also bought 2nd hand, although mine is a K-Tec - I can't see how the mounting could be different so it shouldn't be a problem just using the stock rubbers that are already there.

What about the clamps? Can i just use the original ones?

I replaced, but my originals would have been fine.
Best get underneath and have a look... If they're looking corroded; replace.
