As per subject, which is the best induction kit to buy for the v6? I have a mk1 230.

I see the BMC is a popular choice but seems a bit of "engineering" is required to make it fit?

What other alternatives are available for the vee?

Iain

my bmc fitted straight on mine and my mates mk1, sounds great and felt a difference, go for it u know it makes sence lol

BMC or pipercross are very highly rated

someone on here got great results form a k&n apollo kit too!

Thast was me.....13BHP over standard Max gain and 8BHP Min gain on back to back runs. I can post the graphs if anyone wants to see them. Torque was up by 15 IbFT as well. Money well spent! Although remember every Vee is different and what works on one may not work as well on another!

I have had pipercross induction kits before and have always been impressed by the high standard. Which one do you have, viper i take it?

K&N Apollo.....very well made and looks cool thats if you could actually see it under the covers!

After doing a search it seems them BMC is the winner....So just bought it. Cant wait :D

I must ask. How are these any better than the original air filter?

With all the stuff I'm learning on here I'll be able to write a whole paragraph soon.

They're much louder!

I also noticed that the filter in my original airbox had a darker area which only covered around 1/4 of the filter, leading me to think that the whole filter wasn't being used. The BMC is supposed to allow more air through, and that must be a good thing. In addition, you can position the cold air feed at the mouth of the vent to suck up even more cold air.

On many cars I've noticed slight flatspots when temps rise with aftermarket IK's, but the BMC on the V6 has not had this problem.

I developed nasty flatspots when using my BMC so I had to put my standard one back on. I can only suspect that the aluminum tube I had for the air feed wasn't positoned correctly.

I might fit it again but I think I'll only get it done by someone else who knows how to fit it correctly.

Iv got a normal pipercross viper (not the evo) fitted to mine, linked the induction pipe to a brake collector from demon tweeks about £18 and then connected the the collector to the inside of the side pod to the mesh. Proper cold air straight into the filter.

Not sure what the actual milage is for servicing an aftermarket filter but most are easily cleaned and last a long time. Im guessing have a check every 6 - 12k miles.
