What have you done to your Retro Renault today?

swapped the battery in the blue chamade for its correct one, started it let it run for an hour whilst i worked on the volvo. Ran it long enough to get all the ice off the car and the ice ff my motorbike behind it

Nearly got the head ff the volvo theres a single 1mm bolt holding it on, I couldn’t move for the cold though

realised my sick ine is up on thursday so need to get the car sorted and a shake down t make sure its ok.

Went back out drained the coolant, removed radiator, heatshields, matrix pipes, coolant bottle, strut brace etc to save work tomorrow.

So all thats left to pull the engine is both driveshafts, exhaust, gear linkage rod, pas pump moved out the way, fuel lines and some other guff.

Back is now agony, I'm cold, annoyed and hate my life

took project ratnault out of the shed yesterday.had it ticking over for about half an hour today.strong smell of petrol comin from under the bonnet but its too dark to see where its leaking.hope its not a charred heap in the morning.

the project is the red prima/16v from chet.obviously others have built it but im gona put my own stamp on it.yup thats "hooper" the supervan.love that yolk more than the missus and she knows it.

classic!!! as long as shes in the loop... ah yes the prima is very cool, what you sticking the steelies on to?

their goin on the prima, got quotes of €25 - 35 per rim for sand blasting.bit steep ,imo.know a lad that does grave stones so il give him a shout and see wot he,ll do them for.

is that just blasting no paint/powdercoat?

Roughly 40 - 50 quid here per wheel blasted and coated.

Anyway its pouring here as usual. Only went out for 30 mins and am soaked through.

Blue chamade no has no grille, bumper and various bits loosened/removed.

I was reading my report and its 2 years since I last done this job

must be somewhere better, what about a stove place? I have sent steelies to those places, they get blasted then that enamel super shiny paint stuck on.

is it places that manufacture stoves you mean?dont know anywhere over here that make or restore them.tried the wire brush on the grinder but it,ll take ages and wont get in to all the nooks.

yeah or places that make machinery.

Thats the real issue with steelies they rust between the welds etc. You need t blast or dip them to get it out.

tried to replace the bulb in the clock in d cham diesel.wot fuckin knob jockey thought it a good idea to solder the bulb into the black holder.nearly got glass in me eye when trying to pull it out of the holder with a pliers and it shatterd.

there is a few different bulb holders, only of them are replaceable types.

I hate cleaning engine parts manually. The 5 pot cam cover is trying my patience.
