got the 5 back and went for a drive!!!!!!!!
its been a pain to own so far, accelerator cable snapped, front exhaust pipe cracked, back box started blowing and clutch wouldn't engage gears, all replaced/sorted now though
i have used it to work and back today, 15 miles each way, sat at a steady 60mph,its quite nippy for a 1.1
it could do with a 5 speed box though and stiffer suspension, then i will be very pleased with it, condition wise its lovely
Had a great day today, found a 1995 R19 16v cabby at the wreckers yard, got lots of those anoying missing bits that I needed.
bits I snapped up: ICV, throttle body with good TPS, various hoses and seals, interior light and switch assy, plastic ends for inside top of doors, some good trim, spark plug cover with original plastic screws, spotlight. etc etc.
all for $60 (30 odd pounds).
Very happy.
Took the cabby for a drive to check everything out, so far so good. but feeling a bit of windburn on my face now.
Just got to change the oil and filter and give it a polish.
Got a 172 as a daily, ive still got the ph1 19 which is work in progress, I cant see myself ever selling that one!! The old black 19 has gone to a mate so expect it to be at fcs still lol
i filled my 19 with petrol today, again. Really need to change a noisy bearing. There's so much salt on the roads right now i can hear it crunch under the tyres and have to use the wipers to clear the screen every 5 mins
Primed the maxi shell tonight, starting to look like a car now, after 8 years, not just a random mix of panels fiberglass and filler, also got the clio valver rolling so i can take it to get its vin verified so i can get a tax book for it as it got lost before i bought it.
Last weekend I decided to change the timing belt on the Supervan along with the leaking injector pump.belt and new(well 22yr old,3 of those lying on a shed floor)pump fitted, the bastid refused to run right.put a 2nd pump on,the injector pipes wouldnt line up coz it was a lucas unit and the others are bosch.put a 3rd pump on and wouldnt even start.not even by pulling it up and down the road.took that 1 back off and put the leaky 1 back on,it ran perfect.had to take that 1 back off again to get the seals done.what a great 3 days.:x
