what did Illiad do to upset them??

Strange advert on a high end dealer's site who seem to have sold a silver phase 2 [v6plaque]327[/v6plaque] , and are now asking for other low mileage original cars .
So far so good until they state
"We have an interest for any colour aside from Iliad Blue. " (yes they did spell it incorrectly)
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds ... d/10499427
I find that bizarre considering how rare these cars are in any colour and Illiad was popular for a reason!

Interesting list of "investment grade" cars they want. Good to have two Renaults on it -

Alfa Romeo - 4C
Alfa Romeo - 8C
Alfa Romeo - Giulia Quadrifoglio
Aston Martin - V8/V12 Vantage/Vantage S Coupe Manual
Aston Martin - DBS Coupe Manual
Aston Martin - Vanquish/Vanquish S Manual
Audi - R8 V8/V10/Plus Coupe Manual
Audi - B8 RS4 Avant
Audi - C6/C7 RS6 Avant
Audi - A1 Quattro
BMW - 1M Coupe
BMW - M2/Competition/CS Manual
BMW - E46 M3 CSL Coupe
BMW - E92 M3 Coupe Manual/GTS
Ferrari - F360 Challenge Stradale
Ferrari - F430 Coupe Manual/Scuderia
Ferrari - F458 Speciale
Fiat - 695 Abarth Biposto
Jaguar - XKR-S GT
Lamborghini - Gallardo Coupe Manual
Mclaren - 12C Coupe
Mclaren - 675LT Coupe/Spider
Mclaren - 600LT Couple/Spider
Mercedes - CLK63 AMG Black Series
Mini - Cooper S Works GP
Porsche - 996 GT2/GT3
Porsche - 997.2 Carrera S/GTS Coupe Manual
Porsche - 997.1 GT3/GT3 RS
Porsche - 997.2 GT3/GT3 RS
Porsche - 997 GT2/GT2 RS
Porsche - 991.1 911R
Porsche - 991.2 GT3 Touring
Porsche - 981 Cayman GT4
Porsche - 981 Boxster Spyder
Renault - Clio V6 Phase II
Renault - R26.R

If I could chose 3 from this list not including the Renaults I would have an Aston DBS/V12 Vantage manual, Mercedes CLK 63 Black Series and Jaguar XKR-S
Including the Renaults , the Jag would be dropped for the V6 :)

What would other chose??

My concern is being lumbered, like having an 8 track or vhs video player.
I do hope there will be many more years to enjoy petrol cars without huge penalties.

I think the term being lumbered does apply particularly with the Astons, i have had the pleasure of working on a few and trust me looking after a vee is cheap, plus you get to know all the RAC staff by their first name.

I think there will be many years of enjoying petrol cars AND bikes, the electric following will do that for us. Its just that the scrap Lithium will be piled up so high there will be nowhere to go.

Not having a go at anyone in particular. ;)

Spotted the reason for non Illiad.
Common theme of their stock follows the general theme of the buying public for high end cars.
Black, grey, slightly blacker, grey with a bit of black, black with a bit of grey, and for the more adventurous red calipers.

Looks pretty comprehensive.
I think the standard E93 probably needs ‘competition pack’ to make the grade, but otherwise I think the line up looks pretty damn good.

Hard to look beyond the GT3 Touring for me.
V6 & 1M closely following on.

The last time i heard of something blacker than black it was a spaceship that crashed into a planet!

For me, it would be the BMW 1M. I used to have / stage rally a 2002Tii (over 30 years ago now) and it was a wonderful car. The 1M always struck me as a Tii for grownups and looks to be great fun. However, modern cars' limits are so high that I wouldn't have been sliding round at sensible speeds like I used to!

The Porsche Cayman GT4 is another car that would appeal to me - judging by the rave reviews it had in the magazines - by journos with opinions I trust having had chance to compare their notes when they have driven cars that I have experienced.

I know that I tend to go for the less outrageous cars with respect to power, performance figures and dimensions. I do prefer smaller cars that suit our crowded roads - particularly those on my favourite routes. And they would also fit in my garage!

I got in touch with Contemporary Classics late 2019 since I was interested in their 1-owner BMW M2 Competition (in Sunset Orange), which they have since sold. At the time I was made aware that they were expecting a low-mileage 1M Coupe (in Black) to come in, I was asked whether I would like to test drive both, but the weather was not too great at the time. I then had a family bereavement so I could not visit their premises as arranged. I note that both BMWs are now sold, and from the details that were sent through to me, they appeared to be excellent examples at not too outrageous prices.

So, clearly they get very good cars in, and their approach is based on what they think will hold their value.

Greg, the owner appears to know his cars and certainly knew a thing or two about BMWs and Porsches.

With regards to not wanting Illiads, I suspect that is because Illiads were the most 'common' of Phase 2 Vees. This company has a very unique approach to grading cars.

Fully agree with you SImon.

Getting a car that will fit my garage alongside the Vee is certainly proving to be a difficult prospect!

Seems like the Clio V6 is in demand......another 'wanted' advert placed on Pistonheads, this time by Millennium Heroes, or is it that they are looking for SoR's?

"REQUIRED; RENAULT CLIO V6

SOLD SIMILAR REQUIRED

**IMMEDIATE CASH PURCHASE AND COLLECTION AVAILABLE**
"

I know Contemporary Classics are looking to buy into their stock.

Strange advert indeed because after a few months from when they stated in that ad “We have an interest for any colour aside from Iliad Blue.” they advertised an Illiad Blue ph2.
& it sold near enough straight away.

And now they are shortly going to sell a 2.5k miles Iliad blue.

Perhaps they have since seen one and changed their mind!

Which number is that Duncan?

[v6plaque]150[/v6plaque], with 31,300 miles on the clock, has been on sale for a good few weeks now: LINK

I think its [v6plaque]66[/v6plaque] Dulan. Only seen a few teaser shots on Instagram so its a bit of an educated guess!

Yes [v6plaque]150[/v6plaque] was originally advertised as deposit taken, perhaps that feel through. Looks a pretty good buy for the money.

Thanks Duncan. Seems like [v6plaque]066[/v6plaque] is one that has been off grid (i.e. not known to v6Clio.net)...

Hi
I’ve brought [v6plaque]150[/v6plaque]. Can’t speak highly enough of Greg at contemporary classics, extremely professional and very knowledgeable.
The car is Currently at sg having some work done, With a hope to collect It next week.

Also wanted to say how brillant this site has been in helping me make an informed decision on the car.

Literally a dream come true for me to own one of these
Cheers
Carl

Congratulations Carl...

Looks like you have got a cracking Vee for a very good price. Well done.

Glad to hear that you had a good experience dealing with Greg and Contemporary Classics.
