What are the best aftermarket Brake Pads?

MakamV6

New Member
The dilemma, I have to replace my brake pads and am wondering which ones to buy. :s

The main issue I have with the OEM ones are they give off quite a lot of brake dust (takes ages to clean my alloys)

So I ultimately want some pads that give off the minimum of Brake Dust and still stop the car on s a sixpence - I will not be tracking the car, just regular road use.

Also what are the differences between EBC Redstuff and Yellowstuff pads?

Any Ideas on what to go for would be appreciated?

Thanks

I have Carbon Lorraine pads on the front which are excellent.

They bite very well even when stone cold.

I have heard that they eat discs. Had mine on for about 1000 miles and the pads are still alive!! [smilie=icon_cheers.gif]

Hope this helps.

I am running yellowstuff, squeaks a lot, but well that's what are track pads like..
they do stop well in the cold too, well what i mean cold is about 8 degrees celcius only in hk though....
it goes from 0 to 900 i think

but yeah, once they breaks-in, they do u good

Get the mintex 1144 from SG motorsport. They are awesome. Got them in mine. Dont be swayed by the cheap ebay 1s. They are a different compound.

I am running stock ones but have a set of red-stuff ones in a box - and that's where they have been for nearly a year ... Haven't got round to changing them yet [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

You still not got them fitted yet Martin? I can remember you buying them of Ebay.....LOL :D

Just for the record i am running the cheaper Mintex pads up front (40squid) and have had no problems. :D

Got Mintex pads front and back and they are fine.

Are these the same make/type as the Standard ones?

The back ones are as he bought them of me. I am not to sure about the front ones but i think Matt is running standard Mintex just like me.

According to the bills I have here in my history I'm running the cheapie Mintex pads as well. They stop very well - although to be fair they do seem to be very dusty to me, but that might just be my driving :)
