What a Noise!!!

Thursday I had the Janspeed Exhaust and Manifolds fitted by those kind guys at GDI. The manifolds are fitted with 100 CPI cats.
All I can say is that it sounds awesome. :D
There seems to be better throttle response with it revving more freely, although I have still to get it remapped.

Here are a few comments I have had;

Sounds like the new Aston Martin. (bit of an exaggeration I think)
Sounds better than my Chimera.
It's like a jet fighter.
Sounds like a proper racer.

Andy @ GDI took some video of me giving it a bit of a thrashing, so hopefully you will be able to judge for yourselves what you think of the sound. (Hope he gets it sorted soon.) :D

£1,000 will only buy you the Manifolds, another £500 for the exhaust.
Would have liked no cats but I think its best to keep it legal for the road.

So how much was the system in total? How much was fitting?

And, where's that video clip?!!!

My rear bumper's a bit stained as I asked for it to be mapped to flame on the overun.........

 You nutta!!

Any news on your video clip Marcus?

TRW1, you think I could get mine to pop a flame with the cats in place? :D

TRW1, sorry missed that bit out. Any suggestions as to where to take it?

JJ Total cost was approx £2000.

     Yikes!!!

Makes the £500 for the Quicksilver backbox on the Group Buy look like a complete bargain!

Thanks for the clip. What's it like noise-wise inside the car?

JJ, normal driving is not that different. However when the right foot gets twitchy it is very different.

ts the manifolds that are a problem for fitting... the backbox is np where near as bad

I was going to go down this route as well. I much prefer to get the whole zorst system swapped and get some more noticeable power & torque gains. BUT (and it's a big J-Lo style butt! ) I baulked at just under £2K for the system including fitting. That's a lot to spend on a car thats only worth £15K! So I went for the value for money option of just a back box. Should get all the noise, and maybe a bit more power for 1/4 the price.

Peter :?

Thanks for the info AndyGDI.

Charlie @ ProSpeed reckoned on about £630 for the manifolds, including x2 200cpsi sports cats, and that's including design & fitting. His back box is around £590. That's almost £800 less that the Janspeed for a custom setup!

Peter255, could not agree more. Just remember that if you want to get more power in the future you will need to free up them exhaust gasses and in my opinion the standard cats will tend to take away the "rawness" of the exhaust note.

JJ, no disrespect to prospeed but that sounds very cheap. I would look carefully at what you were getting and be skeptical of the power gains. Or on the other hand they have a very slick operation.

The noise is the main factor – a few BHP makes bugger all difference. Bit like what that guy in the other thread was saying – these are 'Halfords' mods.
