What a car, what a driver..........

I know this is not the place to post my all time favourite car (i.e. ultimate dream machine), but I just had to post this clip of a 1980 Porsche 935 K3 driven at full chat (Summer 2015): LINK

Only downside is I will need at least £2 million to buy one, or at least that is how much one cost before Porsche prices exploded a couple of years ago :(

An old-school 911, with 700hp, built in 1980, driven as intended - what more could one ask for :salut: (still not the most powerful motor in the race, but did give most of the modern machinery a real run for their money!). As expected turbo lag is what lets the 935 down.

Set aside 20 minutes and watch the feature race (second video).

Never seen a 935 been driven so well. Absolutely fantastic, especially for a car built in 1980!

What does a 935 K3 look like in the flesh? LINK

The K3 is one of my all time favorite race cars. Complete animals but pretty tame compared to what Porsche were producing for the IMSA/Trans-Am series.

Indeed Brett, but you are referring to the 917's with 1,000 hp (some even had up to 1,100hp with the boost turned right up), but those were in a different league. However, the 917's weren't based on standard 911's, unlike the 935, which was effectively a (heavily) souped up 930 Turbo.

By the way K3 was a moniker used by the US-based company (Kramer) that bought and prepared (and modified) Porsche race cars.
