Very difficult to select reverse gear!

Hi everyone. Took vee out this afternoon and whist trying to reverse into the garage found it difficult to select reverse gear. I had to really push just to get it into gear. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe give the gearbox oil a change?

Sometimes you have to pop it into third then pop it into reverse. Bizarre but true.

Could it possibly be a selector mechanism prob? my car (prior to owning it) had a problem where it would only go into 3rd gear, turned out it was the mechanism.

2 of my vee's have been like this, seems to be a characteristic of the box, just select 3rd then it goes in fine,

Sign of a nice tight gearbox in my opinion. Both gearboxes on mine did this and the 1st or 3rd gear trick works fine with out damaging the weak syncro's.

I put the round (Cough*) the garage put the wrong oil in my box last yr and it was a nightmare when cold!
