Ventureshield / Armourfend - Pic Request

Hi Everyone,

I have just got my Clio back from the body-shop having got a re-sprayed front-bumper, blended into wings and bonnet (it looks great - pics to follow!)

I'm considering getting Armourfend / Ventureshield fitted. It's been a while since I've seen a Vee with it fitted, and was wondering if those of your who have had it done could post a picture or 2 of the front-bumper particularly. If you have any super close up shots of various parts of the bumper, that would also be really useful.

Thanks very much :)

Phil.

I'm not a fan to be of the sticky plastic stuff. The edge lines show, the stuff does discolour and you get 'twists' in the plastic when a chip would normally occur. I've learned that it minimises 'dings' though.
Simon 'RustedandRotten' reckons that we all should be hooning around with an aftermarket reinforced front bumper (keeping our OEMs in storage).
There some method to his madness - as I've had x4 resprays in 15k miles. A test mule might be available in spring. A better proposition than plastic shield?

Interesting idea indeed!

I think I still need to reserve judgement and see some more pics before I decide...!

Plenty of pro's and cons to this stuff but I reckon there are far more pro's than cons. Yes you can see a start finish line but I would much prefer that than 1000 little marks all over the front end. Yes it can pull paint off upon removal but thats not really an issue considering the car would definatly need 5x more paint with out it. Yes you can get dings/turns in it but surely its better to have a colour coded ding than a glarring obviouse chip or crack. Then there is the price. It is dear but so is 5x more paint.
My car wont be nocturne with out the stuff as after 4 weeks hard driving it was fucked!

Can send you some next week if that's of any use to you Phil?

That would be really useful thanks Shaun!

Just pics of the front bumper really (i.e., around the headlamps, foglights, etc).

Thank you sir :salut:

The job on Shauns is very neat and certainly worth considering, another aspect is that in an impact it might hold the bits together enough to make a repair more feasible?

On mine - check the line across the bumper.

Must admit, I struggled with the dilemma of either plastic over the car and not being able to wax the paintwork... Or going without, but then having to try to wax stone chips.

I hate stone chips more than I do seeing a line of plastic from some angles [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

Do you have a close-up of the bumper to hand?

Only that photo I'm afraid.
If you zoom-in you can see the line in the bumper recesses.
Tbh the bumper work hides the lines very well...
it's just that the bumper is more prone to bottom scrapes than chips.
I certainly wouldn't bother with that product without a splitter fitted to protect the underside.
Perhaps you need to consider both?

Good call.

I think I've decided on front bumper + a splitter.

Now to get hold of a decent splitter....

Russo's are amazing... if he's able to find time to fabricate a 'Russosport special'.
I've seen some folk paint these to match the bumper colour, but my advice is to paint them in satin black (to match the grills) and and any future damage can typically be a DIY repair.
