I think if this forum moves to facebk i'll sell my immaculate, low mileage, very rare ONE owner ph2 [smilie=icon_eek.gif]
Keep my ph1 and join a Subaru forum

There always Dave’s kind offer to host us on turborenault.co.uk

Unfortunately, the majority would probably ballot for a domain name change:

normallyaspiratedrenaultsportandturborenault.co.uk

We could always DNS redirect v6clio.net to turboRenault.co.uk therefore keeping the v6clio.net name alive. TurboRenault will happily cover the costs for the DNS name.

The important bit , name withstanding is not to let data get lost. Facebook is virtually un searchable but the forums do it so much better.

If we were serious to be migrated I can lift all the images , PMs , pages , threads , users + passwords quickly and efficiently. We have done this with a few forum.

We are not in it for the money ( in real terms , it costs us ) it’s more to keep data alive, plus it would be great to attend events as a collective.

Turbo Renault isn’t on ‘Tapatalk’...

However, joking aside, that’s a very kind gesture.

Facebook is a no-go for me as a means of interacting, sharing or seeking opinions or thoughts, or even as a medium for serious discussions, so I certainly will be giving it a miss, as I have done to date - didn't know that we even had a FB page until recently.

Guess time will tell...

Keeping in mind that when I bought my car and started posting here it was quiet.

Looking back though it never seemed to be that way so, someone has to ask the question.....why is it so quiet, what's happened to the place?

I know some forums blame fb but as said elsewhere here, fb is dire anyhow let alone when it comes to finding things out.

James, this forum is your child and there is no way you’ll give up on it. So shake yourself and get some forum chat going again ;)
Those days where quality and remember all the bans to keep you busy :salut:

Oi! I didn’t do the very few bans, the Boss did those. Andy had far more patience than me, but there is a few more member adjustments planned. ;)

PS. Hiya stranger. :race:

I agree Facebook did at one time distract a bit from the forum, but the resale values were cleverly talked up at one point. This worked amazingly well for sellers at that time. Values seem to have levelled off a bit, and hopefully they will fall back to a point were owners are more interested in the car than a falsely inflated price.

‘Use it or lose it’ is the club mantra.

Duncan signposted me to a few FOS2005 pics last week. I uploaded these thumbnails in the gallery.

I have asked the photography site for a price for personal copies but he hasn’t come back to me with a figure. It was easier to post the thumbnails on here due to potential wrath of copyright!

It may be worth someone setting up a ‘static’ on-line library of information for the Vee, much as I have done for the Lotus Cortina

There is fantastic information on here regarding the history of the development of the cars, the prototypes, race cars and road cars. The register is also an incredibly valuable resource. This lot deserves to be in a dedicated ‘non-interactive’ website for the Clio V6, with additional sections for originality, change-points, marketing and sales brochures, press photos, etc. etc. A section on ‘how-to’ would also be most useful. A forum doesn’t really allow a very structured approach to presenting the information, important once you start to cover the multitude of categories.

Facebook provides the perfect 'front-end' to a structured library of information, allowing the interactive discussion that a static website doesn't. Importantly, it also brings out information that can be added to the website or used to refine existing information. I’ve found Facebook an incredible resource for building my Lotus Cortina Information website, as it attracts folks who have been involved in the cars, but who wouldn’t necessarily visit a forum such as this one. I now have contacts that used to build and run the race cars for Team Lotus and Alan Mann Racing, as well as race and rally cars from the period from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many European countries. They have each provided some fascinating information which would never have been known or recorded on a forum for the cars.

As the library builds, so folks will also contribute via that site to help build / refine the information even further.

A library independent of any club or country would also attract word-wide contribution, allowing a far richer content to be built, especially around the register.

It has been sad to watch this forum slowly dying over the past 3 years or so, but like losing the local shop, we only have ourselves to blame. It’s not just this site by the way. Most of the forums I dip into have suffered in the same way, due in part to the ease of access of the social media sites. Time to move on, get the enthusiasm built back via a combination of an active Facebook page and a content-rich library of information, which of course can be linked to Renault sites around the world in order to ‘spread the word’.

For those who don’t like Facebook…don’t be daft! You don’t have to give any information about yourself on your page. You don’t have to show any photos of yourself, your partner or your house, and you don’t have to comment on any political activity. You can be completely anonymous. For quite a while I was unable to join due to the work I used to do, but with the controls and options now available on Facebook, there are no concerns from any authority from a security viewpoint, so long as you use the it appropriately.

Here’s my website so you can see what the structured information may look like. Something like this for the Vee would be amazing!

Very good points Mark.

There is a lot of work involved for someone “Wordy” to pull everything together in one place, the forum format actually hinders this. A lot of info in the Knowledge is linked to forum topics (many are dead and pictures missing from defunct image uploading sites). I plan to go through our galleries and reduce the size, but need to do it very carefully otherwise many more topics could become pictureless.

Even the Knowledge Base is a dreadful thing to build and manage, Ben gets most things to be entered into it pushed over his way as I tend to brake it everytime I tinker with it. ;)

The Guides/HOW To section in the Knowledge Base needs to be stand alone without links directing you to forum topics.

I expect this forum as a discussion platform will be available for quite some time. It will not have any Club or Membership/Fees attached to it. (Moderation may need to be increased)

Will the Facebook page becone Clio V6 Pictures again??

Due to the increased level of banned selling posts recently. It is looking like the Facebook group will soon become only a place to post pictures. Posting anything other than a picture will not be an available option.
