V6 Trophy race event eligibility

Question for the knowledgeable folks on here: where does the V6 Trophy slot into to club sports events at this point in time and what might it be eligible for in the future?

I did look into this, aside from hillclimbs and sprints, they are eligible for the CSCC New Millenium Race Series. link

no idea about the future, but I would love to see one at events like silverstone classic!

That looks fab!

There's almost scope for a future 'mega mix' of single series race cars.

How do you think the V6 Trophys will fare against the 996 cup cars? : p

Might give the Beetle RSi gang a good run for their money!

This is cool - let's hope we see a V6 Trophy mixing it with other marques on the circuit.

Indeed, would love to see one driven in anger at Silverstone Classic. :approve:

Having run a car in the New Millennium Series for 2 years, I am not certain it would be eligible due to its age. the car would also need headlights- a big issue on Trophy's due to the headlight blanks being part of the front wings- no going back to standard there Having said that, the CSCC were always keen to attract entries and were pretty flexible with the regs to do so. All their races though are 40 minutes which will be hard on the Trophy and I am not sure if it can carry the fuel for it- we were using 35- 40 litres a race in our 200 Clio. Fun series though and the pit stop element added some excitement and made it more of a team event.
I have also been in a team running a Clio Trophy at Silverstone in the Birkett Relay and the car was not on the pace at all, easily beaten by front engine Clio's.

The equivalent front engined Clio in 2003 was about equivalent to a V6 on some circuits in period: I did a one-off support race for the BERU German Championship in 2003 at Hockenheim with the Formula 1 where the grid was mixed and I think the best V6's were just a fraction quicker... guessing since then the front-engined cars have got faster!
A Clio V6 won't see which way a 996 Cup has gone I'm afraid... there were a pair in the Dutch Super Cars in 2006 (?) that were at the back of the field mostly with the 996's fighting for class wins.
The problem as well is that the V6's are so high-maintenance that without an Alpine spares truck, I'm not sure we'd ever have managed a full test day!

The front engine race Clio's have evolved, power and handling wise, but at a weight penalty so not much quicker, dare say the latest ones can have the turbo wound up when racing out of series mind.
