see

does anybody know who does light weight panels for the v6 phase II, not the rubbish boy racers kits or the well pricy stuff on e-bay as I may be building a race rep for sprints etc
which means I will be selling off my orignal renault panels, all bar front bumper or drivers door.

cheers

as we have never met nor have you seen the state of my car to say I am MAD is a bit OTT

the car is CAT D , side and front damaged , with the front bumper and headlights vaporised, bent chassis rails, damaged bonnet, bent sill section, nackered drivers door and sill cover, and a small ripple in the roof
Paint damage on most of the other panels

So the idea of building a stripped out car with race bodywork and a warm engine could be a better bet.

see http://www.staggering.info for my CV on the last few cars I have done.

MAD no I dont think so, just looking at my options as I really do not want to line Renault pockets with £2K of my cash for the rip off prices they charge for original panels.

Steve,
probably your first port of call should be Scott from SG Motorsport 01249 720040.

He looks after/built the rally spec Dragon2000 car and has supplied race parts to a number of us including some panel work.

There is, apparently, someone out there making lightweight doors which would offer a considerable weight saving.

Plastics for Performance also do a full window kit (except winscreen) and the guy, Paul I think, is very helpful and knowledgable.

Are you thinking about buying the engine in the link. The price is very good if it's a runner - that sequential box alone is worth the cost of the engine if it's had a rebuild recently...

Couldn't see any reference (although my German is non-existent) to an ECU though.

Yes looks nice but as you say without the ECU you would be a little screwed.

Regarding the panels if you dont want to make it a show car and just want it to look OK why not pattern from the originals and make out of thiner fiberglass.

Then when it comes of the road you can make new ones again.

Fiberglass or even carbon doors are already available, they were used in France in the clio rallye versions, and race series.
The specific Vee bits to widen the doors, are just glued onto standard doors.
Disadvantage of these doors, they open up when driving fast, due to flexing of the windowframes.

If you are still looking for light weight panels pm and I will give you a phone number.Doors bonnet wings etc.

Hey I would be interested to see whats available, any chance of PM'ing me the details..

Thanks

Jonny
