V6 steering question

Hi all,

Being new to the V6 and this is my first Mid engined car, I have a question, at speed, on the motorway for example, the steering feels quite light, is this normal?

It has been mentioned about a light feel at speed, I used to find it a bit scary doing over 150 something alledgedly.

I haven't been that fast yet.... obviously not trying hard enough :race:

Mine didn't feel light at the front! I may or may not have reached around 140 leptons, maybe I can't tell. I shall go and have a play and report back :salut:

My steering never feels particularly light.... Have you checked your pressures?

Hi James, yes it is normal for the phase ones. You get used to it after a while.

If its more than just noticeable, I would check your tyre pressures are correct (too hard and it will exaggerate it) and if its not very confidence inspiring, its usually a sign that the tracings out.

The cars are very sensitive to even minor miss alignment. When its all perfect they feel extremely planted!

Duncan, good to know that its normal,

Its got a set of new 'maxxis' Tyres on at the moment which I shall be changing ASAP, I'll be changing these for a set of Michelin's.

They have the Pilot Sport 3's available on mytyres.co.uk, can't seem to see super sports though.

Used to store 2 bags of road salt in mine, helps with the lightness a little @ speed & doubles up for salting the drive when it snows

I may get my self a bit of ballast for the front! think it will take a bit of getting used to coming from a front wheel drive heavy engined van!

HI guys, just took the advice and checked the tyre pressures, the fronts were 30.5 psi instead of 20.3 psi, I'll have a drive out later to see how its feeling!

You should notice a difference James. I'm not at all technical or a super driver, but I have a weird knack of knowing when the tyres are not quite right especially on the Vee.

^^^ Totally agree, no expert but everytime I get in the clio its off to the fuel station to tweek the air pressure, 1-2 psi makes a difference. I now keep a note in the car with the correct pressure.

(Drive out every 3 months-ish hence the check, incase you think I have an OCD problem)

Makes a great difference, never felt that before in any other car. :race:
