V6 Detail

New Member
Well well! 8 months in a bubble and it was time for her to see the light of day!

Sorry in advance, forgot my sodding camera on the last day so the pics are all pants! I'll get a few wheel/arch shots and paint shots in a couple of wks time and add them to the thread.

After FCS i'm going to do a full 2yr review thread of the car. Expect some serious bias opinion! ha! Anyway going to let the pics do the talking but feel free to ask questions.

Total time for detail - 31hrs.

Cheers

Ali

Car pushed into to see the defects. Which tbh was a mission in itself. Minor swirling, Nothing too drematic. Few scratches from the ring and RS trackdays. Mind this car is/was used daily!!

The Combo for polishing was Megs compounding pads 3/6in and Gloss it's new Extreme cut.

Looking better

Here's where the pics go pisch! With the compounding done, the paint was feeling extremely smooth but still a few minor RIDS. The gloss ithas a particularly long work time and i made it even longer with a healthy spritz on each panel! It's alot less dusty than the 3.02 but much for muchness on cut.

Rear Arch after (Excuse overspray on disk - Gone after a couple of miles of driving)

Front - Clean! :) Arches dressed with CG new trim gel. Coils oiled with KW lube.

Car was then hit with Swissvax cleaner fluid on a Megs Black pad and then Sealed with 3 coats of CG blitz and then the new LSP of choice is Swissvax Saphir

If I ever get bored enough in my life to actually have 30odd hours spare just for cleaning a car someone please call the men in white coats to put me put me out of my misery.

It does look clean though, and I suppose you had fun.

Nice job! :approve:

Not really! lol. Blood, sweat and tears. Which is why it's a once a year affair to this degree!

Loveeee Illiad! Even if it was the premium colour, i would pay extra for it!

Looks so good Illiad. A bit CDO with the cleaning, but I'm just jealous of your energy levels youngin. :)

heh, all those shots with the hands coming into frame.. not the sort of p.o.v. shots I'm used to seeing on the net

Your right, Illiad looks mean but I'm lazy so Silver all the way for me!

Well done mate. Looks as clean as ever.

When you seal your wheels, does the brake dust just wash off or do you need to use a chemical. I hate pressing the brakes after i have washed mine cos i just imagine the dust clinging to my freshly cleaned rims!!

Alex

Looks great mate. Having been to my first two meets ever in the last week and mostly driving at the back of the pack I have to say Illiad is the best colour. It just suits the vee perfectly and from a distance you know its a vee! It just stands out and you can blantantly see the shape of the vee too it looks fat/wide huge and squat! Visited Jaytek racing today and Chris's illiad looks stunning! Illiad is the best colour (just my opinion no offence anyone) so well done mate for making yours into show condition:) :approve:

lol. Illiad is the best colour...but you've got Black Gold!!! Explain!

I like all V6 colours bar Lunar and Acid.

Illiad is the best colour for the vee cos it shows off the lines and the shape of the vee best. I had a choice between that and the Black/Gold but went for Black/Gold no compromise for me cos it looked so good in the showroom (seriously mean and menacing lol! which means it helps get people to move out of the way so technically it faster than illiad  ) and I thought with my personalised plate on it I couldnt walk away from it. Well I did walk away and turned saw the vee from a distance and thought I would regret not buying it so shot straight back into the dealership and bought the black/gold! Black is timeless colour suits any car and with silver pods its the perfect contrast. B/Gis also more discreet and sometimes I love the anonimity that brings. I can imagine the other colours do get a lot more attention!

Ali's Vee at FCS last year convinced me that Illiad was the colour to get. Obviously his is a cherished example with many hours spent on it but it shows you what can be achieved :)
