V6 Brakes-Has anyone uprated their setup

My V6 is in desperate need of new anchors, just wondered what other owners had done, has anyone gone for a bigger setup.

Mike T, who else!!!

More details please.

Any idea in what way Mikes brakes are better than OEM ?

Are the calipers hand painted and wee stickers put on?

6 pots - better heat dissipation and with DS2500s more bite when hot - standard brakes good enough off track

Mike,

I am loving that setup, I think the standard brakes are okay for standard use, but I do like to street race every now and again and good anchors are essential for safe stopping and late braking.

Where did you buy the set from and how much please?

Seen a nice 12 Pot conversion from Tarox its £3500 and you need a minimum of 19inch wheels for the conversion.

Sounds a bit overkill, the extra unsprung weight must be noticable on smallish car.

My GT4 had 330 mm front disks as standard and was about 1500 kg, the standard set-up was very good but did fade slightly on track days.

Red stuff ceramic pads, whilst retaining the standard disks, really took away the fade. I was able to do 2 back-to-back laps of the Nurburgring with no problems and I am not slow round there.

My only issue was spongy pedal feel due to heat soak into the brake fluid. This was improved by adopting a synthetic fluid and using braided brake hoses.

In other words you could try an alternate pad configuration with fluid and braided hoses as an option - you might not be dissappointed.

Cheers K1ano,

After some sound advice I have saved some cash and gone for Greenstuff replacment disks with redstuff pads and braided hoses, hopefully this setup should prove good.

Did not know EBC made replacement discs for the vee? Are they any different? grooved? Drilled? Or both? Any prices?

Steve,

Still waiting for them to come into stock ordered them through Carnoiser in Oldham.

Ill let you know when they arrive.

Make sure they are the correct size, iv looked into this 2 and found ppl are selling 310mm discs which are neither front or rear.

Steve

I think you may wait a very long time.

You will have a job to better the AP racing, next step is 6 pot which is over kill for the road.

If you still think you require 6 pot you will not be driving much longer, remember over 100 mph you will not drive for a period.
