URGENT HELP PLEASE ! Vakum and idle.

|sAs|

Well-Known Member
My car is running 3000rpm with the idle motor on..
And 900without, so I blocked 3 hoses and now it dies on idle (without the idle engine on).. And tryed using diesel start to find leakes, but the car only died of it, wich make me think that its running well fueled..

Question time.
The idle potentiometer, where is that ?

What is number 2 ?

number one here runs to number 2 on second picture.
Number 1 goes in with the surplus oil thingy, and it sucks false air from there should it do that ?

ALL HELP IS MORE THEN WELCOME ! And the sooner the better.. Thank you for reading.

Is your car a Quadra?

You have no Idle potentiometer, its not there. The Lambda sensor controld idle mixture.

A-Crankcase breather pipe, fits to pipe round rocker cover and attaches to one way valve.
B-diff lock switch vacuum actuation feed. Attaches to the diff lock system IF its a Quadra and if you havent changed anything. If its a 2wd It should be blanked off.
C-I Assume its attached to pipe B, again it'll be part of the difflock system if its a quadra.

Thanks.. It is a Quadra..

But how can I change so the car is not that well fueled ? Its running 6km on 1 liter of gas.
And when putting in the idleengine, it rews to 3000rpm and tryes to adjust from there, but only 500rpm down or up.. So can it be overfueling bigtime ? and how do I get it down ? My car has dumped 3mots on it, and I have changed the lambda sensor, and it has worked, but by faar not enough :(

If its revving to 3K you have a leak in the inlet system under the throttle body or in the idle control valve pipes, or the idle control valve is faulty. Try cleaning it out with thinners/wd40/brake cleaner.

Look under the the inlet manifold where the support should bolt to - are there two bolts in the inlet manifold or are they missing???

Failing that I would say that its a possiblity that the ECU is faulty if you've tried everything else!!

I've figured out some things.. Without the idle engine on.. it barely revs 500rpm.. and with it on 3500rpm.. but could be a faulty idle engine.. even though I have cleaned it with wd40.. alot..

...or faulty wiring.....

The bad fuel economy could be a broken sensor, coolant or knock, one of the 2.

I've got the same fuel economy thing at the moment
knock sensor is brandnew....

The breather pipe on the manifold goes to a 1 way valve as Dave says...If this valve has stuck or become faulty in any way you will have a very big air leak on the inlet side..giving you raised idle speed

If the fuel economy is that poor i'd hazard a guess that the Lambda sensor or coolant temperature sensor is at fault.

As for the idle valve,if its running a Ph3 setup with lamba (which it looks like it is) the idle valve will be a Hitachi 2 wire job.

And I must stress that if it is this is 21 Turbo specific (as is the Lambda sensor, according to my Dialogys disc)

I also had idle issues a little while back with Ph3 management, turned out the solenoid on the idle valve had stuck (these valves are similar in design to Vauxhall Ecotec ones and they suffer terribly with idle problems)

You need to remove the solenoid part of the idle valve and clean it thoroughly, making sure it doesn't stick.

To be fair though, you'd save a lot of time getting someone to check the fault codes with XR25 as this will tell you which sensors are at fault.

Also while I remember, the throttle position sensor setting is very important in getting the idle valve to work properly.

Hope this helps...

Cheers

That has been changed an noticed a BIG difference.

Thank you. Will see what a new one costs.

I have taken it apart and cleaned it, and checked it work.

Do Renault have this ?

Going out in the fine weather and check that up now.

Me too.. soon tired of a car I can't get though mot :(

You can get the Lambda sensors direct from Bosch, I got one for the Quaddie for silly money with the proper plug and everything.

Hi and thank you so much guys..
I have now gotten boost on my car though a bleedvalve, and I have replaced my dump valve with the one recommended under discounts from Forge.

And the only thing still bugging me is my idle :( I have "redone" it.. but didn't help.. A new is close to $100 :( so was wondering if I could use the one from my R19 1,7TXE 91' (going to the scrapyard soon) but it have 3 wires.. Any one have a clue ? and its a bosch one..

Do I on my phase 3 have a screw on the side of the throttlebody to adjust the air?

No, if it is a 3 wire you cannot, it must be exactly the same one.

Yes, it does. Top of the throttle body, behind the plenum chamber, or there is an air bypass adjuster behind a plastic blanking plug in front of the plenum on the side.

Tusm Dave.. But now that I think of it.. Its could not be open since the car is now diying at idle without the idle controller engaged..

I have to take it out again and redo it again..

Btw. Renault quoted me £205 for a new today :wtf:
