Im with you on this Ali and there is no excuse for making a hash of the most criticle part of any car. Yes i am doing this as cheaply as possible but i don't intend saving money by fitting inferior parts. Im just cutting out all the fancy annondised ally, carbon and titanium glamour. I really cant afford to do things by half as I intend to eventually run my car over the 185mph mark once the Audi engine is mapped and fettled up to stg 3 tune (550/500 tune)
The kit will be;
Mercedes ml 500 350x32mm Brembo discs redrilled to suit Renault 5 stud pcd
Centre spigot shim adaptor
Porsche 6 piston 18z Brembo calipers
EBC RedStuff pads
A pair of steel caliper carriers
A pair of brake lines made by a local specialist
This leaves more scope for improvement such as cross drilled or slotted discs, higher or lower temperature rated pads depending on initial bite or endurance, aluminium carriers to reduce unstrung weight and finally brake disc shields and ducts. You could go to town updating everything straight away but I reckon it'd be best to see how your car behaves with bigger disc and pads to begin with. Obviously I'll be doing initial testing in mine!
