UPDATED: Engine Mounts and Lower Rear Suspension Arm Bush

shinji

New Member
Looks like I need a new lower engine mount (82 00 000 003) and 6 rear lower suspension arm bushings (77 00 822 503) for my Phase 1.

Now this got me thinking that if I need to replace these would it be worthwhile to source a custom lower engine mount and some uprated bushings (I remembered reading in the forums that Ali advised against using stiffer bushes like those powerflex ones)

A pic of the custom lower engine mount from a very old thread in this post

Don't know if they are still available though....

And these are the rear lower suspension arm bushings

Located as Item 5 in the fiche

1) So are engine mounts usually replaced as group or can be replaced individually?
2) any benefits of fitting aftermarket bushes? (I am really looking for durability to be honest)
3) the bolts holding the bushes needs to be replaced as well?

Thanks in advance

82 00 000 003 is now 82 00 371 093 £41.02 GBP

77 00 822 503 £37.63 GBP

Nothing on the system to say these are not available. Check with a main dealer.

I didn't know there was a change of part number for the lower engine mount. Thanks for the heads up and the prices doesn't seem to cost a kidney except for those suspension arm bushes!

Read too many regrettable stories online on ppl going for the poly bush route so I might just stick with original.

Hey guys, I need more help

My mechanic has advised that it would be prudent to replace the upper and side (?) engine mounts at the same time as the lower engine mount.

I am now looking at part number fiche and cannot confidently work out which ones are the flexible "rubber" bits that needs to be ordered. Also, are the nuts & bolts to secure the mounts be usually replaced at the same time?

I think I need the following but can anyone confirm whether they are the flexible bits that I need to replace on my Ph1?
Upper Engine Mount (5) 82 00 000 036
Upper Engine Mount bolt (6) 77 00 101 425
Upper Engine Mount (1) 60 20 011 801
Upper Engine Mount (4) 82 00 020 693
Upper Engine Mount bolt (20) 77 03 002 242
N/S Upper Engine Mount (15) 82 00 000 018
N/S Upper Engine Mount bolt (14) 82 00 000 030
N/S Upper Engine Mount nut (16) 77 03 034 204

Many thanks in advance!

My mechanical skills are limited to fitting a new air freshener.

They look like rubber/metalastic bushes.
Very few owners have mentioned replacing engine mounts so far, but nobody has ever asked for the part numbers to replace with new bolts. Perhaps that is a clue?

I'm tempted to ask do they look as if they need replacing? Beware of any that are costly but also may only come in packs of 10 or more (check with a dealer)

Thanks James

I didn't know that the bolts would come in pack of tens. will need to with my parts guy and see if they do.

Gut feeling says the bolts don't need to be replaced cos if they have been bent by the mounts then it would mean the mounts are in dire conditions

Hi shinji

How did you go sourcing engine mount components? My mechanic mentioned my gearbox side engine mount may need replacing (item 14, 15, 16 in the diagram).
