yet another Collecting Cars listing lacking in truth.
Claims twice that the car has never been road registered! how do they think it did 1500 miles.
Also, no mention of where it was imported from and therefore that VAT is probably liable if a UK buyer wants to register it.

To say that you had no idea of the previous history being a one owner car is strange.. there must of been paperwork to say it had been registered, even an old log book!

Does anyone know if he bought the car from the original owner or a dealer?

To say it’s not got a uk owner sounds a-bit stretched I know it’s not registered but still someone owns it here! Seems like he’ll say anything and by his posts on CC make him seem like a right knob!

And yet again CC seem to be advertising cars that they don’t fully know the history off.. didn’t this happen with a ph 1 Clio v6 so called trophy cup car!

I am sure someone on Facebook said he had owned it and sold it to that dealer, he definitely wasn't from Jersey.

I'm guessing this is why CC descriptions have got so much shorter, they used to be little essays.

Indeed. the guy doesn't understand the truth ( Mogsy WIlliam Mogan on Facebook and his Platinum car sales dealership in Wales) and I'm happy to call him out on here or on CC and yes Collecting Cars are looking into this further having already had to correct his claim that the car had never been registered.

He has recently been asked how many owners it has had in the UK since imported and his laughable answer was 0 !! the question was not How many registered keepers? because we know that is 0 in the UK but someone was clearly wanting to know if he bought it direct from the Jersey owner or has it been passed around.

The true answer is 3 owners in the UK. Divine imported it over 3 years ago (as per Duncan's post from last year states- linked in the 2nd post on this thread) then they sold it to a well-known member of this forum who sold it to this guy - and he provided all the paperwork and import documents to him, so he knew exactly the history of the car.
You only have to look on the register here and it even states what the number plate was in Jersey so you would have to be really dumb to try and get away with claiming it has never been road registered...........

It’s clearly a cracking car, even if the story in the listing doesn’t quite tell the whole truth, but the paintwork is questionable. I’ve not seen it up close but I’m aware of shoddy blends around the door shuts, a kerb scuff on the underside of the front bumper and some serious orange peel on the rear quarters - which you can see in the listing.

It may be factory fresh, but the painter had been on the 1664 on his lunch break that day.

If anyone bidding for it wants to get the full story of the car, I’m happy to chat to them.

I've seen the picture from 2019 of the overspray on the door jamb. not pretty. Collecting Cars have this information and have spoken to Divine who imported the car in 2019 and he says he left it like that rather than repair it.
Looking at the Twitter feed on this car on CC I see it was not bought direct from Renault Poole by the Jersey owner but shipped to a Jersey dealer by someone else. Apparently, the Renault Poole Dealer used it as a demo car for months before selling it so there could have been damage done to it then and repaired before it went to Jersey.

Seller has now changed his profile name to MAT2005. I guess to stop the association with his business. He has also been warned by CC about his behaviour and responses because his replies about this Clio are mild compared to the utter garbage he is writing on other listings.

Check out this listing until Sunday. Unfortunately, the comments are deleted when the car sells as CC don't want any comeback or evidence online

Back to the Clio
He was taken to task by someone about the number of owners in the UK and him lying saying none. He tried to deny he said it. laughable.

Then when someone mentioned corrosion in Jersey cars, he says it only spent 2 years in Jersey which of course is not true as it came over here in 2019 and that was corrected by someone.
Then someone else took him to task about his appalling attitude towards people who ask questions and his difficulty with the truth.
Collecting Cars contacted me on the phone to discuss the car and the paintwork queries and told me he has been warned, but buyer beware is all I say if ever dealing with this guy or his Platinum Cars dealership.

SOLD for £75k plus buyers' fee. somewhat less than his advert for £115k and his claims of offers on fb

Correct. Collecting Cars said to me that the listing had been "tarnished". They are not wrong. The Seller needs a big attitude change.
Selling specialist cars in this era of forums and clubs means you need to tell the truth or be found out, especially when they use the uncertainty of selling at auction to reduce buyer comeback.

Not surprised - many bidders would have been very hesitant or scared away by the falsehoods claimed and the seller's aggressive behavior. A real shame!

Good that it is a one-off, but once the auction completes, comments are no longer visible, only the final price (with commission?), which is a pity.

Indeed. which is why I have copied all the comments on here for future reference and anyone can see what happened with the auction and effect on the final price.

Again, I say well done Graeme GPH et al for raising the questions and putting this comedian into his box, and rightly so! This has protected the buyers from a completely misrepresented vehicle though the vehicle is still what it is, which is a genuinely low mileage LY V6 but not quite as squeaky clean as the sell tried to imply by his blatant barrage of lies. Collecting cars is a good forum to sell cars but caveat emptor as they seem to abnegate responsibility for veracity. Proves the worth of fora such as this in putting things right, it is not key board warriors at work but people trying to maintain the integrity of their marque :approve: :approve:
Hopefully the low price achieved is a suitable sting to make the seller think twice in future

If anyone who has been following the Clio V6 market this year for yellow cars and hadn’t seen the now removed CC comments, or the forum here, saw the CC sold price today at £75,000 (£79,500 including fees) they may think that was below the other recent sold prices and wonder why. The 2 final bidders at £75k at least had the eventually corrected CC comments to factor in, if they hadn’t checked in here as well.

Obviously there’s a degree of risk assuming for one reason or another that the car couldn’t actually be viewed. However surely there is plenty of margin to put right both the identified items and some unexpected ones. There are only a very limited number of UK yellow cars and several have already been sold this year. The chances of more ultra low miles cars turning up soon have diminished considerably.

I haven’t looked at the pictures or description in detail. The poor paintwork area can certainly be improved, though LY can be difficult to get a good match to. The service history appears to be almost non-existent but at least there are a couple of years left on the 2019 cambelt. Whilst the tyre depths appear as new, being manufactured in 2004 and 2005, they’ll need replacing if the new owner intends to drive the car. Alternatively if it’s not going to be driven, then some collectors who value originality would want the original tyres. Probably there will be other minor items to attend to, is it still on the original starter motor (not a problem if it’s not going to be driven), have the sticky door handles & centre dashboard been dealt with, etc, etc.

Someone advised about the potential for some corrosion due salty coastal conditions whilst at Jersey.

The car has only done 1,531 miles. All these things can be addressed. It must surely be a very original starting point. Now that the ownership, registration and VAT is so much clearer, if the new owner is open about all that and the car is more or less faultless when the time comes for him to sell, then there shouldn’t be any problems.

Certainly the seller didn’t respond to information requests in the best way. As Graeme has posted, his Pajero finishing this Sunday has also attracted comments. He’s clearly moving on a few cars at the moment, a Focus ST 500 yesterday, 2 x Mitsubishi Evo VIs and an Impreza P1 tonight, another Evo VI on Sunday. I wonder if CC will continue to deal with him.

All good points David, plus one bidder commented that he couldn't bid higher because he couldn't get immediate finance on an unregistered car.
So as the VAT has been paid then it would make sense to register it. Then the owner has to decide whether to just wrap it up or MOT it each year and service it more than once a decade which is another thing that affects values.

When it was in Poole, was it registered as it was a demo or were the dealers running it on trade plates? Any one checked because if was registered that number should be reallocated, also VAT would have been paid at that point!

It was not registered in the UK before it went to Jersey. It was exported on 20 miles. It would of only moved on trade plates.
