Gearboxes would see no change what so ever. The cars srtuggle to spin the tyres with crap tyres on so upgrading the originals won't effect the gearbox in the slightest. As for wheel bearings it wouldn't be noticable. Only when loads more offset is added to the wheels do you start to see that.
I've got 255's on mine and it makes a world of difference. Don't forget to make the front wider too though. If you don't, you could end up with a car with lots of oversteer and even worse snap oversteer.
I have 225s on the front, So think its got to be 255s Like Ali says they do look better. Why did you go 255.35 Ali instead of 40s.Think I will have to stay with 40s as the front are 40s ?

Just for reference Roma, the profile number should be staggered too fella. 40/40 would give a taller tyre on the back as it goes up along with the width.
