Tyre Vote

Mulgari

New Member
Everyone talkas about different tyres being best, and what they thought was a better tyre.

Thought i would put a vote up, just out of interest to see which one would come out on top :)

Seems to be the talked about tyres are Michelin PS2 PS3 and the Toyo T1-R

1: Mulgari (PS2 good all round never had grip issues, but never had anything else on the car, looking for new tyres thinking maybe Toyo)

I have Toyo T1-R on the mag wheels, they feel a bit tramliney.
Falken 452 on the standard wheels, everything feels normal and secure (no weird moments).

Michelin PS2s all round - good grip generally but prone to letting go on a couple of occasions in the wet at low speeds without warning.

Hi there

Vee - Falken FK452 all round. No issues. Good tyre :approve:
Volvo 850-R Toyo T1R's all round. Lovely tyre

PE2's all around on both v6's, and the 172, rated very highly.
Very good in the wet. Only let go once in the early days of the Black vee, but put down to an over enthusiastic and inexperienced new owner giving it large on the loud pedal exiting a roundabout. No harm done done to either the car or the inside of my underwear :p

lol dont know where i was going with that, was early LOL

To be fair its a good thread mate. Lots of tyre posts so its good to pull together opinions on people using different brands could event do with it linking into best offers/deals on those tyres perhaps.

My car came with yokohama AD07s and am now switching to AD08s which are the new version

Been on the car over 20k miles cost about 130 for fronts and 150 for rears not sure how that compares to Uk as I live in hong kong

Their unstickable in the dry but can be tricky in the wet as been told they are semi slicks? Since putting on kw v3 suspension it's been much better in all conditions

Was told they're not suitable for such a heavy car eg more for lotus due to the sidewalls been soft or something but I'm very impressed with them even if they are pricy!

I've just fitted the Falkens to mine after having enough of the toyos in the wet... they're absolutely shocking in the wet (you can tell by the tread pattern). I really could do with a track day with the falkens, everything feels great, but I need to find the limits again on a track as I can't find them at low speeds on the public highway.
I had a horrible scare with PS2's and have never used them since.

Well I wasn't going fast, about 40-50 on a bend that would suitable to do that speed on, it was early morning but it hadn't been freezing, all of a sudden without any warning (no understeer) the back end just gave up and decided to spin me backwards into oncoming traffic! With all of the other tyres I've fitted, you always get understeer first (and because of that, I haven't ended up facing backwards).

Oh yeah, and one of the rear tyres on the ps2's once produced a bubble in the wall of the tyre. The tyre was less than a month old at the time so I took it back, only to be told (by michelin after sending the tyre to them) that the tyre had been pinched on kerbing. Really??? I think I'd remember kerbing my bloody car considering I live on a road not street (where there's no kerbs) and I never park in streets. So there we go, up yours michelin, you're not overcharging me for tyres again.
