TWR Devploment Bit Build

SimonLM

Member
I am building a new engine to go into my 02 unabused Vigin Vee.

I have the current parts which will be fitted and hopefully will see some power increase.

TWR development heads with cams
TWR development plenum and injecter rail
TWR cats with no second cats
TWR development gearbox (dont know what ratio it has)
Larger throttle body
Bigger injecters
OMG backbox
Piper X induction kit

Re-mapped ECU when its all in.

Will upgrade post as and when also pictures to follow if I can work out how to do it.

(Not quite as modded as others here but gota start somewhere)

MoTeC if you can afford it but there are other options if you can't but as Mike and Tim say standard ECU simply won't deliver. You could be "brave" and go down the Megasquirt route if budget is an issue, Emerald, Omex and KMS are in the middle ground then M800. What you save going for middle ground stuff you may end up spending in getting someone who knows how to map it properly on the v6. There's a relatively large amount of "experience" out there now mapping the M800 on the v6.

I got the parts very cheap. I have a modded ECU although its the 128k Mk2 version that needs recoding to the Car, RGS dont seem to think this will be an issue. I do not disagree that a upgraded ECU is the best way forward to get the most out of the upgrades however at present funds will not go that far. I am doing the mechanical work myself and unlike most on here not paying some one else. I will expect to see a small gain which will be a plus as I did only buy the parts for the new clutch and exhaust system and rear discs the rest came with in with the deal so the only expense is the re-map and cam belt kit which mine needed anyway. I dont know the cost of the parts as its difficult to value them but would imagine what I paid is a small figure to there true value.

Would the motec m600 be advantageous to my car? Similar to Loud mans car minus the cams and heads. Was thinking of doing them at a later date. Costs and power increases would be good.

Ive spoke to Scott the other week. Awaiting for him to drop me an email about the motec. Will have to see how the funds are but defo my next steps i think. As soon as i can afford me thinks. :winky:

I have looked at the M600 b4 and if I were to fit an after market ECU would be the one, however TWR did manage to tune these cars with there modded heads and cams (cams same as Mk2 in my heads) so at present will have to suffer. My mate has offered me a piggy back ECU from his Supra which will be my fall back plan.

Nice to see others intrested in modding there vee

All comments welcome

Would be interesting so see what this spec would make on standard ecu.
Tim is running Newman cams though which will make more than Mk2 cams.
I suspect it would be a good advert for MoTeC.

If you can get it running well on the standard ecu you could add MoTeC at a later date and if the car was ever sold, revert to standard and take the MoTeC to your next car.

Yes if I ever get the time to finish the project!!!

Its a little slow go at the moment as christmas cained the funds for the car and now the garage roof has started to leek which is not good.

Anyway there must be a bright side, I just havent seen it yet.

Well the main reason is that tha alloy is a little fury in places I gave the engine a good clean degrease and jet wash.

I just thought it would help with keeping it cleaner for the future.

But as you lot are so strongly apposed to the proposal I wont do it, hence my question.

Thanks for the input guys.
