Turbos Diesel (not a clio)

Guest

Firstly this is not clio related
my 306 td is smoking alot when going flat out..
basically wen the turbo comes on boost it leaves big clouds behind it (its not black) but its not using much water but using quite a bit of oil.
Am i right in thinking then it is burning oil through the turbo :?:
Is this really bad for it?
Last night i was cruising about 95 on (my private) M25 and it was smoking quite badly but running fine and temp was normal so should i actually worry about it or just keep topped up with oil and expected it cos it is after all an old tractor engine

sorry would post this on a 306 forum but they are useles and you guys are much more helpful :D

i would think so mate..could just be the seals or worn shafts...

I used to use the 306 forum and they were spot on. Ask for J.A.C on there.

Sounds like worn seals though as has been said.

sounds like a turbo problem, if theres oil in the exhaust then its defo the turbo, take a pipe of the intercooler and see if theres excessive oil in the pipes.....

replacing the turbo unit is an easier option than doing the seals, plus they will be pretty cheap s/h.......replace it before it really goes or you will need to do the exhaust/cat as well.......

it will but how can you be sure the seals are good on a secondhand unit. ring vince at cr turbo's he will sort it for you.

you can't but get one with a guarentee or get one of ebay for about £30, going to be cheaper than replacing seals.........

Not if the second hand turbo is fucked and lets go during use........ I had a pal buy a perfectly good looking KKK charger for a C20LET with little to no play in the shaft. Thing did 50 miles before letting go. Second hand is dodgy on turbos unless uber low mileage with a folder of history to back up maintenance. Invest a little more in a good unit or end up paying up for a new unit AND and engine if the second hand unit lets go. No brainer really.

meh... the car only cost £400!
Il wait for it to go bang and buy another one :-)

Or that. LOL. So many about to be honest! I got mine 2 years ago (3 door DTurbo in Black) for 800. Drove it for 18 months putting fuel and oil in it. Sold it on ebay for 460 with a fucked PS Pump and cooling system pressurisation problem. Was a wicked car with AWESOME MPG. Would have another if one came up and I had a need....................
