Trophy inlet manifold

On the hunt for a v6 trophy inlet manifold and throttle bodies, any ideas?

Dont want big truppets up in the cabin, like the idea of using the trophy manifold and tucking under the engine covers. Plus got some heads to go on aswell

Hiya Ben, i've got a Trophy inlet that I might be getting shot of. I'm going down the ITB route so it will be kicking around. Its brand new but requires the two throttle bodies and the bottom part that goes to the head. Word of warning, you will struggle to fit it upon a vvc type engine as the inlet cam cover is much taller. However, the best thing to do would be to fabricate the bottom part to account for this or fit the Schrick cams you want and ditch the vvc (only really needed for emissions). At least that way you could easily machine new flat cam covers. Just a thought.

Sorry for not being very constructive with this post but I just can't leave this uncommented. From what you wrote it seems you don't have much understanding of vvc. The size of the cam cover has nothing to do with the vvc because the cams fit perfectly into the head. Note the front bank inlet cam has a flat cover already. The taller cover is for oil vapour collection purposes only. The vvc is surely needed for emissions but definitely NOT only. A race trim engine may reach it's peak power without vvc but only because the engines is built for a narrow range of a few thousand rpms right before the rev limit whereas a roadgoing engine is expected to deliver torque primarely in the lower revs but still keep the power in higher revs. In this case a vvc is very helpful.

Yeah your right, the taller vvc cam cover is not made as it is purely because of the function, I'm fully aware where the cam dephasers are located. I was purely implying that the earlier type setup where it wasn't fitted is actually lower (I've looked into fitting this setup very heavily). I also agree with you that vvc does have its place on road cars. When your looking into fitting hi lift, long duration cams though I personaly can't see the point. Lets not get carried away and assume it gives a jekyll and hyde type of engine. We aren't looking at a Vtec type of situation.

Like I say, it is purely my opinion about vvc.

Dude that would be awesome! i would definatly be interested

Not to worried about all the work that has got to go into it to be honest, got to take the engine out to do the cam belt etc so i was planning on making it a long term winter project.

Dont suppose you know what throttle bodies they are do you?

Yeah, I found that...... Don't think they really like exporting stuff to be honest. Had to pay by bank transfer in the end and it took quite a few emails to get things rolling!!!!!
