Trackers on uk vee's

I couldn't live with myself if my vee got nicked and the tracker wasn't active... How many of you have theirs active ?

Mine isn't... in the unlikely event that it is nicked, I'll just pay the fee to activate it... What really put me off was it made no difference to my insurance!

mines done, the rac trackstar thats fitted as standard useds gps to locate ur car and as we all know sat navs don't work inside buildings etc, hence is not as good as tracker that uses a locating signal and the police have the recievers fitted to there cars for speedy recovery.
To be honest i will change mine as soon as i have some spare cash.

If somebody nicks it Mark it will be active within the hour... Anyway, who's to say I don't have other more obscure protection methods in place... :P

All uk MK1's have them as standard fitted by trackstar

My MK1 is an import but it's had one fitted by tracker :thumb

you can activate it by calling up trackstar, customer service number is 08702 405752. they usually have them on record by number plate.

mine had the tracker sim number in the owners folder.

Cheers Duncan. We didnt get a owners folder with the Vee so we'll phone the number you've given me. Thanks again.

Based on this previous information a year or so ago, I actually spoke to Trackstar at length about this ...

Here is the post ...

Trackstar Emergeny Activation

Essentially there is a process you go through which will cost you £264 quid and you need a crime number from the Police ...

Has anyone actually tried activating Trackstar following a theft ?

Martin

Mine's activated, but I've the advantage of having been the owner since new. Was cheaper to do when you first got them :thumb.

That is true!! Plus bear in mind it's basically a sim card and Trackstar have to do a diagnostic on it to see if it's actually sending a signal, I'd hate to find out that it doesn't function in an emergency!!

I rang Trackstar today and asked if Jackie's Vee had a tracker fitted. As has been mentioned by you guys, they took the reg and confirmed that it had one fitted. I was asked if the car had been turned off for greater than an hour, as the tracker goes into sleep mode. Jackie started the car for a few mins, as instructed and a test signal was sent. The test signal was fine and they are sending us the subscription paperwork. Two prices were quoted, £160 ish per year or £369 for the duration of your ownership.

Cheers all. [smilie=bowdown.gif]

Don't think it's worth the cost really. Not unless you get your own monitor showing where it is so I can do a vigilante recovery job :)

Plus, do you really want it back once somebody has stolen it and driven it hard? e.g. dumping the clutch at 6k, mounting curbs, flying over speed bumps, burnouts, ragging it from cold and bouncing off the limiter in every gear... Not sure i'd want my car back tbh, would prob be more of a headache trying to fix stuff...
