This is insane: 978 hp & 871 Nm of torque...

....and it is a Mitsubishi Colt with AWD and a 2.0 4G63 4-Cylinder Turbo engine: LINK

Bearing in mind our covnersation Dulan have you seen the absloutely stupendous amount of lag this thing has?!!!

Watching the top speed video you can see the speedo needle crawl up as the turbo spools and then it starts to fly. The delay seem to go on forever!

I realise the aim of this was a top speed and 100-200kph monster, but I imagine it must be pretty frustrating to drive in all other circumstances.

Yes, you may be right Jon, but what I was in awe was the fact that this chap managed to build such a monster using a mundane hatchback from the 90's, which would have had no more than 120-150hp as standard and turned it into a monster. Of course, it may be a pig to drive, and possibly built to go very fast in a straight line, but the engineering (engine, turbo, drivetrain and gearbox) behind the conversion is what caught my attention.

As I understand it this was a one-man project, so the chap had done all the work himself when it came to building and mapping the car. I thought that was quite impressive......

Very impressive and looks like it absolutely nails the brief he had for the car :approve:

Isn't the engine, drivetrain etc from a VR4/Evo? Pretty sure Colts didn't have 4G63 engines from the factory.

Bare in mind that car runs around 50psi of boost at just over 6000rpm id say its not too bad lag wise! Its probably got 25-30psi in its lungs halfway through its rev range. 25-30psi in any evo would be pretty damn quick so its got plenty of gogo on demand. I thinks the way it breaks traction makes it look more laggy than it is but thats what you get with 950hp! Lol Other than a hard to use clutch, i'd put money on that being more docile around town if its got good boost control than any n/a motor running hotter cams and throttle bodies.

One things for sure, its a feckin mental sleeper!

Makes me pretty sad to see this car because I had such a project in mind as well. The car is still around, a standard 1.6 AWD Colt. Planned to charge the 4G92 or replace it with a (possibly charged) 4G93. Not too much power to keep drivetrain mods within a reasonable budget but still enough to have some 4WD fun in a small car. Problem is those cars are hard to come by and as a chap 4WD car they are used in the winter a lot. Therefore they are typically in a very bad shape. I took the whole body apart but I gave it up due to its really bad shape and I didn't want to put all the modification and work in a car that is about to rust apart...

I'm going through a weird old man phase where any sort of lag pisses me off Brett. :) No idea where it's come from as the RS4 was old school lag personified and I absolutely loved it. lol

On song this thing must absolutely bloody fly. 8)

Do it Jonas. :approve: Though aren't the Swiss authorities a bit strict in terms of modifying?

No chance, I would however reconsider it if you volunteer to refurbish the whole body ;) No, seriousely there is just too much money and time involved and bear in mind there is a hungry vee lurking nearby as well :) You are right though about the authorities but I expect there to be some tolerance as long as the engine bay isn't filled with red and blue anodized parts, polished stainless pipes and headers and hoses in all imaginable colors. Who knows exactly what is modified when you can't see a difference to OEM?
