Thinking of buying a phase 2

Hello all
I currently have a mark7 Golf R. It’s a great car and very quick but with the DSG box although a great bit of kit you don’t feel connected to the car. I’m thinking of going to the Clio. Looking at the prices they seem to be on the up which is a bonus but I’ve never had a Renault before so the build quality, electrics are a worry for me. Am I worrying about nothing? Also I’m guessing they need to be serviced by a specialist, are there in the Chelmsford area?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I've recently bought my first V6 and also its my first French car. The club has all the info you need.
Build quality is great. The factory modifications are very well done. Ph2 better in this respect than Ph1. Interior is a nice place to be and solid. The ride quality is incredibly good and really surprised me. Its smooth but doesn't float about.
I'd say electrics are no worse than any other car of that age. All pretty straightforward stuff. SG motorsport is probably your best bet for servicing. It's where mine will be going.
Hope you decide to take the plunge. I'm very glad I did.

Hi Dom

Thanks for the info. I took the plunge and pick up my black Phase 2 tonight. Needs a few things doing but it’s nearly 15 years old and still looks amazing. SG is a bit too far for me to go but Mark Fish is only about 20 mile from where I live and have heard good things on here.

I’ve had a few good cars in my time and my favourite has always been my 205 1.9gti up until now. But I think I may have finally found a car to top it. Our French neighbours certainly know how to make a good hatch!!

Glad to hear you went for it. Post some pics if you can. Yes, French cars are cool. Have a major lust for the Renault 5 GT Turbo, Citroen DS Pallas, and most people think Bugatti was an Italian marque... wrong!
