Thermostat prices????

sorry peeps but at the mo i av got a over heating prob and the garage that is fixing it called me and said that its the thermostate and they said wen they called renault to get the thermo they said to them that u can only buy it with the housing and not on its own which cost about £140 is this true or can u just buy the thermo on its own? :s :s :s

i just spoke to the guy who is fixing it and he said renault said that the thermostate comes with the housing and not on its own thats y its £120 plus vat, so wot do u think i should do? ring renault myself and c wot they say?

Yes as I don't see any number for the complete unit with 'stat pre-fitted. There's always a chance the dealer has more up to date info that isn't on the dialogy.

Give a different dealer some other MK 2 registration number.

The thermostat can be bought from Euro Car PArts for £15. Its a Valeo product same as Renault.

You have to buy the rubber 'o' ring seal from Renault for a fiver and thats it. What a loads of cods wollop from Renault.

Fix the stat yourself...took me 3 hours.

I bought my stat from Renault, with the gasket for around £25 and fitted it myself - so somone is talking bollocks, as has been said ...

Note that the rubber gasket is 'pressed' into the housing, but this is quite easy to do and definately is a separate consumable part.

have you got the number of euro car parts pls mate? i would try and do it myself but i aint got a clue wen it comes to fixing cars! is it that easy mate?

ok peeps i have sorted it now i rang renault myself and give a different reg number of a different v6 and they told me its about £28 all in god knows where they got £100 plus from the first tym wot divs lol any thanx alot 4 all your help peeps [smilie=bowdown.gif]
