The restoration of Nelly

For those who know Nelly The Cabby & the dramas that followed us buying this car from a to##er from e-bay, the car now runs sweet as a nut & handles & drives like new. To give you an idea of what its taken (other than 70+ hours of my 'spanner love') heres a break down, still a few little jobs to do to make it perfect. Just remember this car was sold to us as 'no known faults', all the parts listed were needed, not just fitted as an 'in case'. & please, dont add it up & tell me or the misses!!! lol

It's always a lottery buying an old car off ebay (or anywhere else for that matter)

dont forget most people dont have a clue and 'problem free' to them just means it currently drives and gets them from A to B

well, if it wern't for people like us who have a passion for cars then it wouldnt be long before cars like this are still around in the future, even if this car reaches £2000 we still believe we have a car worth it.
I remember in the late 80's that people were buying classics for silly money coz they didnt have the knowledge or desire to save 1 from the scrap yard, those people who restored cars really can say the car is thiers. We havnt had this car long but have learnt alot about them, also, we've seen lots of nice 19's (particularly cabbys) that are breaking & destined to die. Alsmost feel it a duty to save this car. My Mrs loves it for many reasons, its looks, how it drives, how it go's & the effort & love its taken to have such a nice car.
Sadly i didnt have the time to stop & take piccys of anything I did to it. Never the less, its nearly done, happily I managed to do it mostly myself, this counld not have ben done any other way, just wouldnt have been worth it.

The only Reason I got my Cabbie, was to save it from a fool. I did have a 3-Door Black hatch at the time, A W.I.P. And to be hosnet. it when like fuck, as fast as my green un' felt very quick anyhow, Even tho. I can do much to it at the mo. If i've ever got to let it go. ( AND NO IT's NOT FOR SALE - ETC ETC. just quoting )... that it will go to someone, who got a love for the think. right now. it been sat out side, and waiting for me to get my driving licnce back 19 more months BTW. it won't rot as bad as using it day in day out. Now that you've put al that effort in, you should got to the easter meet. I'm still planning on been there ( I've got a small money issue at the mo, but get that sorted, i'l should getme hands on 7k :) ), hence why i'm maybe.

we are planning on trying to make the easter meet, the car is nearly done, still not perfect & need more love, its maily cosmetic stuff now, 99% of the mechanical stuff is done. Still a few issues tho but nowhere near what it was!
