The diesel

You ran any additives through it? The forte diesel treatment is good, we stocked loads at the garage, poured it into new filters to prime them etc, always got the emmision's a lot better and helped a load of knackered ivecos start easier

Millars Diesel Sport 4 is excellent stuff.

I upgraded to a Mondeo 2.2 TDCI a few months ago and am running a double dose of this stuff every tank.

Without it i get a drop of 1-2 mpg and a drop in performance. It also eleminated some of the smoke i was getting after decatting i which was a nice bonus.

£13 a bottle from Halfrauds tho... :x

see this pump, same as ours, see the black plastic 1 way screw thing? In behind there is the fueling screw, its an allen headed job

RENUALT CLIO MK1-1.9 DIESEL INJECTION PUMP on eBay (end time 01-Sep-09 21:29:24 BST)

On my pump its a white cap not the black plastic one. The black one just unscrews my white one appears to be a pop in job.

I see the screw on the front, I'll check mine a bit later, So it's just a simple case of turning it and getting a richer mixture then? i.e. more power :D

Up to a limit, yes. It'll go better at the behest of burping black smoke from the exhaust.

Main thing you'll notice is a drop in MPG and a hefty shove in the back of torque.

--Phil

the mixture screws is inside the pump on the main shaft behind the black plastic cap. So you can't 'see it'.

It will go so far then just smoke a lot, upping the governor speed will help the fueling up to the old rpm limit.

MPG drop as phil says but tbh instead of 6 miles foot to the floor to get to 80 its a 30 second squirt instead so mpg may not be affected...

Well by see, I mean the black screw thing, I know where to go with my allen keys, which helps :D

Smoke isn't really an issue, it stops people tailgating . However I'll have to try various combinations if I get round to it. MPG is something I need. But the torque is tempting!

you only lose mpg when you use the extra power the economy will stay the same or like I said improve as you will use more fuel in 6 miles climbing to 80 mph rather than 20 seconds full throttle.

Do a 1/4 turn clockwise on the max fuel screw. If it doesn't smoke maybe a touch more, you will lose the contents of the pump when you remove the plastic cover. When you find the best place for power etc you may have to reduce the idle speed down, but normally that only happens if you go mental

Nah I can already do that . I just want to look good!
Seriously how funny would that look on Santa Pod strip, 19 diesel vs an Evo IV? pmsl

was at the scrappy today, n0othing old enough in! There was some older pugs but they had the screw in black plug, the hunt continues

I'm going to alter the screw, just as soon as the Welsh bloody weather stop raining!! I haven't seen the sun since the weekend! And I'm not joking, I also have breaks to change and the head to do on the valver :(

you got another incase you break th4 plastic? if you break it the car won't run as it will piss the diesel out the pump.

Well today I decided to utilise the cold start advance solenoid to advance the pump timing all the time.

Success, a wee bit more diesel rattle at idle and low speeds but it knocked 2 seconds off the 60 - 70mph time.

It feels a lot better round town as well and got rid of some surging. So obviously the pumps not timed right which is annoying, so will adjust the pump and continue testing, when the timings right and I add more fuel hopefully it should be quite respectable.

Anyway I recommend trying the advance solenoid trick and testing to see if yours is better, I just used a wire to the wiring harness and fed it off the stop solenoid so its ignition fed.

Mine definitely needs to be upped after the Trax results! I have discovered however the cap is the same as yours, a pop on jobby. Think there's a theme running here? By holding the cold start solenoid on isn't that going to suck fuel though?

Chris - just N/A mate, to be honest the speed actually doesn't bother me, after all who wants to get to work quicker than they have to? lol

A bit more acceleration out of service stations and junctions would be welcome though, sometimes in rush hour it feels like I'm taking my life in my hands lol

the cold start solenoid only advances the pump, doesn't add more fuel thats the fast idle actuators job. Advancing the pump injects the same amount of fuel but does it earlier, now obviously this helps a lot on cars where the pumps not set up right and it will help even the right ones if advanced a little.

Ben get a pic of the pump up or find out what it is and we'll go from there.
