You know that road bike order in May? Well it arrived today! A month earlier than expected, so I set about swapping over the wheels, seat, bottle cages, out front mount to the new Canyon road bike. Of course it helps having exactly the same model bike but newer, I can transfer the seat height and position from old to new. Aero bars are fixed position and thankfully exactly the same dimensions so it should be a fairly smooth transition on the first ride.
The bike is pretty much built up bar putting the aero bars, seatpost, and front wheel on. Just having to make sure you torque things up to spec as it's carbon.
So that matching gravel bike I ordered at the same time as the Ultimate road bike, she landed. I set about swapping the wheels to the carbon Zipp 303s and Ultegra discs knocking about from the new road bike.
Now on the unboxing I noticed there was 2 small nicks in the Canyon ergo gel bartape, a DM to a Canyon employee I know and 20 minutes later a new set ordered free and in the post... Brilliant customer service, but one step better. He noticed in the photo I sent that there wasn't any bottle cages on the new gravel bike, so on the same bar tape order.... 3 new Canyon bottle cages free, thank you very much!
So here we are, just need to buy new pedals and it's ready to go.
The road bike has been amazing, loving every minute out on it
Next on the to do list, go 1 chainring instead of having 2 up front so new cranks, cassette, rear mech.
New funky bar tape to go with the pink small accents on the frame and forks.
Also ordering 42cm gravel bars with a 16 degree flare on the drops. The original bars are 44cm with no flare
It means you can run lower pressures and not get pinch flats running tubes. So I can run it down to 30psi, but tyre pressures are scenario dependant. You don't just tend to ride gravel only, I've had to link up sections on road and riding at 30psi is labouring but needs must sometimes
