Ok so chucked some water over the family daily beater and noticed there was loads of tar on the rear bumper. We had the roads re surfaced about 2 months ago so thats how long its been on there anyway i need a cheap but effective way to remove it without causing damage
Auto Smart Tardis is your best bet it you can get hold of it. You have to buy it from an AS rep and it only comes in 5 litres.
Auto Finesse Oblitarate is a very good product, available in smaller sizes too.
Both are - spray on, let it dissolve and wipe away - products.
A quick google saw suggestions of WD40 being used successfully then you could clean it off with a 50/50 mix of methylated spirits/water to clean that off. The other thing to try would be a clay bar? If you are not in a hurry I bought one for or or two quid delivered from China a while ago and just use car shampoo stuff with it to rub it off.
