There is a different inlet plenum. Sure someone will post up all the specifics soon.

The RSTuning map is for the mk2. BUT if dyno results are favorable i'm sure a mk1 map can be created.

Paul, Care to comment on creating a map for a mk1? I know the ECU is different but can you do it?

Superchips do a map for a Mk1 (and we get 10-15% off). Then we are left with GDI or Chipped UK maybe.

Peter :D

Yes the ECU is different but there is no reason why we can't develop a map for the MK1.

As you will see once we have been to the dyno to finalise the map we NEVER aim for top end hp but go for as much torque as possible throughout the range. As an example one of our best 172 maps only gains 6hp but masses of torque throughout the range.

Cheers

Paul

Hmmmm torque.

Can I have an extra 40+Nm please and can you make it come in 500rpm earlier pls. 8)

Thanks

The RSTuning mk2 map will be RR tested in exactly 1 weeks time. Hurrah!

However. In preparation we might as well get some use from next week. Please re-confirm you definate interest in a remap. Its going to cost around £250. Please don't post up unless you have the money ready. Sorry but "dreamers" raising false hopes on the numbers are not appreciated! :( There are a couple of options. GDI still haven't got back to me with prices and TBH i'm bored chasing them so they are ruled out. That leaves Superchips, RSTuning, and Chipped UK.

Feedback on RSTuning has been very good (do a search on cliospit if you want to check for yourself). Also Paul has been very helpful so far and does definately want to work with us, which in my opinion is a very good indicator of likely service. Price £245

Feedback on Superchips is more varied. Others on other boards are not entirely positive. However they have once again been helpful, and offered a one off discount and a open ended club discount. They also back up their claims with some dyno tesing. The quality of their product may arguably not be the best, but due to their size and reputaion I do have some faith in their abilities. Price £249.69

Finally Chipped UK are an unknown. There has been very little feedback on them. Unfortunately like Superchips some feedback was less than positive. I am unsure of the quality of their products. They also do not have the scale and reputaion of Superchips. I have also not seen dyno test results to back up their claims. They are however slighly cheaper. Price £225

In the end guys n gals its upto you but, I for one think RSTuning are in pole position for my money. The proof of which will come next weekend. IMO no matter what your doubts back to back dyno tests in full view of the owner, with an otherwise identical car, on the same RR, on the same day, etc is the best judge we can get on results.

Cheers

i want mine doing as long as there are gains when on rollers mk 2 .cheers tim

Hi Peter,

Just a couple of quickies...
Has the test mule been de-cat'ed? (I'm worried about the noise with the qs backbox)
Will I have to go to Leeds?

Test mule is standard as far as I am aware. I have QS too so will ensure that works OK with the map.

I think a trip to Leeds will be needed although maybe we can tempt Paul to come to us if there is a group. I'd guess all he needs is a laptop cables 'n' stuff. I'll confirm this week. Are you in?

Peter :D

I have confirmed a few things with Paul from RSTuning.

The test Vee is standard but there is no issue with running the map with filter / back box mods. I will also test this personally on my car.;) If however you have further mods (as I am sure most are aware) a bespoke map is required.

The RR test is booked for Saturday and we hope to get some standard and remapped graphs (for comparison) up in the evening.

The remaps can be done via post but posting ECUs is not a particularly safe idea IMO.

IMO a potential issue for many is travel time and cost. For me I am looking at a 4hr drive and a tank of petrol each way to get to Leeds. That is a considerable cost and time to be added. If we have lots of soft southerners interested ;) then we need to get around that issue. Paul does not normally provide a mobile service, however it is something we could look into if numbers / locations demand it.

Please keep posting up firm interest in this. Not just vague ideas please! Post if you can afford to pay for the work.

Happy for people to drop out if the RR results are poor ;) , but don't waste my time if you will not have the money in November to pay for the work.

Thanks
Peter :D

Cheers Peter!

I'm only in the UK from about 15 Dec til 15 Jan so if you're arranging a slightly more southern location during that period for the re-map then i'd be muchos keen.

Peter,

Assuming we get the right results, I think I'd like to ape your set up. Do you have an enhanced induction? :?:
