Ok lets recap.
RSTuning have a map ready and can fit it to the test Vee w/c 16th. Price £245?
(Anyone else with a mk2 near Leeds that would be interested in helping pls PM me.)

Chipped UK previously offered £225 each for 5+ cars to do live remaps (£50 off).

Superchips offered 15% discount on 5+ cars. Thus £249.69 (£44.06 off)
(plus an open ended 10% discount for club members!:D)

I have now done the following:
Chased GDI once more. They have offered discounts but were checking for specific prices.

Tried to contact dastek, and amdtechnik once more via their websites.

Sent a final last ditch-mail to chipwizards to see if I can get a responce.

Fingers crossed we can get some progress soon! :|

Cheers

Ok so dastek have got back to me they can't help untill their new product comes out next year. As such they will be ignored for the purposes of this group buy.

Cheers

Yes, just to confirm £245 all in, this will not be a live map as this is NOT possible via OBD. To live map we would need to desolder the chip from each ECU which would increase the cost a lot as each car would take approx 5 hours to map!
I'll update on any further progress ASAP.

Cheers

Thanks for the confirmation. Looking forward to the results.

Fingers crossed guys we should get some MAJOR progress soon. The test Vee is available from the weekend. GDI should come back with some prices soon too.

Then we should be approaching the end of the investigation phase. Then when we have all the costed options in front of us we can make some decisions.

Cheers

RSTuning are loading the new test map to the first "development" Vee as we speak.

Hopefully we will get some feedback later today.

I'll let Nev fill you all in on the details but we will be attending the rolling road in the very near future to make sure all is running well and to tweak where we can.

Paul

I wanted to spend a bit of time on roads that I knew before providing any feedback, and now that I have it's good news. The car feels a little more responsive all over the rev range, but particularly at about 3,000 RPM it seems to pull that bit harder than it did before (and in particular I've noticed it more in 3rd and 4th gear) – although this could be a psychological thing and I'm believing I'm feeling a change . My bro has been in the car and thinks he could feel the improvements straight away.

The plan now is to get some time on the rolling road booked and revert back to the old mappings to get the base bhp, then put the maps back on and do another run to find out what improvements we have and to see what other tweaks can be made and then go for a final run – we may even be able to improve the mpg at cruising speeds as well which would be nice. I think I'll be happier when we have some concrete figures to back up what I'm feeling. Hopefully this is something we'll be able to get done in the next week or so depending on when we can fit it in.

Finally I guess the changes are subtle, but then again I cost per bhp improvement is going to better than anything else available (obviously we will definitely know this when we've got it onto the rolling road).

Anyone got anything in particular you wanna ask about it?

Thanks to Paul for his time, and taking me for a spin in his mad Megane.....still loving the sound of the dump valve . 8)

Cheers

Thanks for the update.

It will be hard to feel 5-6% (~15BHP) increase in power / torque, which is the maximum realistic aim. As you say we need a RR to tell us the truth with same day back to back runs. However it is good to hear that you think you can feel a difference.

I obviously agree thet £245 for 15BHP and more torque at lower RPM is good value.

Roll on the RR session!

For the record I have chased GDI one last time..... I need prices! :(

Looking to wrap this groupbuy up as soon as we get feedback from a RR session for the RSTuning map.

Fair do's Peter, you're a martyr!

Can anyone answer me this? Was the increase in output from MkI 230 to MkII 255 due to a remap in conjuction with Porsche? I don't remember reading that internal engine components were re-hashed.

Mk1 - Mk2 differences included induction and head changes which will contribute to the power increase so not just ECU re-programming.

Martin

There is a different inlet plenum. Sure someone will post up all the specifics soon.

The RSTuning map is for the mk2. BUT if dyno results are favorable i'm sure a mk1 map can be created.

Paul, Care to comment on creating a map for a mk1? I know the ECU is different but can you do it?

Superchips do a map for a Mk1 (and we get 10-15% off). Then we are left with GDI or Chipped UK maybe.
