Sounds good for live mapping.
Peter :D

I gotta see this. Live map 5 cars in one day

I take it any live mapping is done with an emulator attached to the ECU directly? As some people claim they can live map via OBD, this is impossible due to CAN communication speeds also on the fly checksumming would be impossible...

It would need to be yes. Hence my comment on doing 5 cars in one day!
Even if you were fast at removing the chip and soldering a socket for the emulator i'd say this is impossible.
I'll stick to the remap's via OBD

Thanks

Paul

@ RSTuning

Totally, live mapping with an emulator is best for development of the base tuned file, any tweaks can be made via datalogging not live mapping over OBD, some people confuse these terms ;)

To properly tune with an emulator on first the rolling road and then fine tune on the road would take a good day, hence a base file is always written then fine tuning is done after some datalogging.....

Be thankful it's not an ME7.4.5 as used on some PEugeots, this one looks like a cut down MED9 ECU and the reverse is bonded internally.... BDM connection possible though

Yes, totally agree mate, emulator nice to setup number 1. but as you say there is then a good base file to work with and adjust slightly to suit other mods etc..

For the record guys I want to keep this thread away from which method / company is best. My plan is to provide a couple of options and leave it upto each owners personal choice.

BUT happy to have some constructive discussion on the techy bits!

Cheers

Oooo you are based in Leeds! Only a few miles away from me. I may be able to let you have my car (255) for the day to do some tinkering to see what kind of results we can all expect and then put the feedback on here - you won't even have to pay me for the use of my car

I'm sure people would be quite interested to get some actual figures.

Pete - I know you are running with this so give me a shout if you need me to get involved with this as they are so close.

ps, does this invalidate the remaining Renault warrenty I have?

Any news from Andy @ GDI on the SMT6/7 option? I thought they mapped V6 WKD which now belongs to Fred from yozzasport?

I went to the actual remapping specific companies direct in the first few batches of mails. I guessed there would be more reductions available than from GDI.

I'll mail GDI now.
