Sump Removal?

G

Guest

I have a sump on a spare engine and the one on the current williams engine in the car and both of them have seriously seized torx bolts, how on earth am i supposed to get them off? two of the bolts have rounded on the willy engine and i just cant get the others off on the spare engine.

Also, does the subframe need to be dropped to get it in/out? Looks tight.

Thats going to be a pain in the ass mate, when i took mine off i sprayed them all with WD40 and left them for a bit, to be honest though mine came off with no fuss. Depends which ones you have rounded, if it's the ones near the front you maybe able to saw a cross thread through it and use a big skrewdriver :?

Yes you do have to drop the subframe, which is also a shit job cos it's not as simple as undoing the 4 bolts :(

Happened to me, I had to drill the head off. Once its weak it will snap off, and the sump should lift over the thread.

Once thats off, try some mole grips to remove the remaining thread from the block.
